Has anyone got anything positine to say about Zmax? I can't find anything on the web. I just bought some...Pete:confused:

I know one of the people that was on the infomercial, Holman-Moody Racing, I think he still uses it I do not know. I do not want to say it does nothing, then again I dont want to say it does everything they say....but I will say that it does not hurt anything if used in proper ratios and will help a bit. There are better products out there and always better oils out there, which would be cheaper. I would say use it and see how it is, it will not hurt the motor.

All the +'s that I have heard come from the infomercials or paid supporters. There are alot of -'s too, but mostly come from those that dont use it or believe in it. Hard to ever guage it. Kinda like Prolong.

I tend to agree with "agpatel". I never heard anything really negative about Zmax but it is hard to find positive accolades for it either. There is an oil additive specific forum that does address these products that may better answer this. With advances in motor oils (conventional and synthetic) and regular maintenance many oil additives are really redundant at this point.

If ZMAX was that great or Amsoil or any of the others they would be included in every new car and would be suggested by all the Auto Manufacturers. I have always used Mobil One Sythetics and have never had a problem on late model LOW or HIGH mileage cars.

I switched from Mobil 1 to Amsoil and couldn't be happier. The reason Amsoil isn't spec'd is because Mobil and the other oil companies pay to be factory fill.

All hype, just change oil and filter every 3k or 6 mos.

If you feel the need to use an additive then you have no faith in the oils you are using, no? Using a quality lubricant negates using an additive imo. Also Amsoil is flat out quality oil, I use it the mustangs transmission. Amsoil will also make it into the wifes Fusion since we use it on trips often.

the only additive that is worth putting in your rig is diesel kleen for diesel engines. personally i think this is the only beneficial additive out there. like mentioned above just use a good oil and filter combo...and all the hype about synthetic oil is true, we gained 8 hp on avg on the engine dyno with a very mild 350 ci motor.

i want to know how much carol shelby is getting paid for those commercials to state he uses zmax in all his vehicles, haha.

I bought it years ago when it first came out. I took them up on the (then) 30 day money back guarantee, it did absolutely nothing. No improvements in well.....anything. I can't believe Shelby is endorsing that crap.

Looking at this chart I would too. I actually pretty surprised M1 did that bad.

mobil 1 has gone down hill the past two years/year and half. amsoil is taking over as for synth oils, thats all we use in the engines we assemble.

Yeah but thats very surprising to me, I would have guessed (with out looking at specs) M1 would beat Havoline yet they lost by quit a bit. Heck for a full synthetic to be beat by a synthetic blend (motor craft) is pretty bad.

I think Mobil 1 is now using more group III base than group IV like it used to.

Motor Craft oil is a lot cheaper too.

Amsoil is a very good oil....but a little pricey...but worth it..but good alternatives are

Pennzoil Platinum..gets very good reviews.....

The new Castrol Egde..getting very good UOA from Blackstone labs..

Valvaline Synpower also gets very good reviews....

Mobil 1 has reformulated their oil and the base stock is a group III oil now...with less wear additives...

for the guys with diesels, how often do you change your fuel filter?
