Stay away from those info-mercial oil additives! I tried them all....and wasted a lot of money. I was always a sucker for car products! Let's see: Slick 50, duralube, prolong, etc, etc. Some are bad for your motor: either they contain chlorine which turns to HCL(acid) in your motor-BAD! or they contain PTFE, which is a solid(there is a debate on if it can clog anything in your motor)...also, Dupont doesn't support PTFE(their invention) for use in oil....so that says something to me. Other additives just do nothing-like Lucas(just thickens the oil). The moral of the story is that you are just wasting your money on these.
I also agree that Mobil One has gone down hill.....most new oils are because they have to reduce their anti-wear additives(ZDDP namely) to make the EPA happy, so car manufacturers can warranty catalytic converters for 100,000 miles. You can buy a ZDDP additive and add to your oil....especially if you have an older car w/ a flat tappet cam. One newer product is called ZDDPlus. I use it on my older cars and my newer mustang when I use nitrous. Its $10 for a 4 ounce bottle. You can add to any oil and it fortifies it with 1980's levels of ZDDP. I think its good peace of mind. I think crane cams also has a ZDDP additive and now royal purple is making a break-in oil thats has lots of anti-wear additives in it. Do some research on Bobistheoilguy.com
