Microfiber Towel: Buffing and QD

I tested my new Cobra 530's and special gold towels with a quick detailer BEFORE I ever washed them. They linted from the start. One wash on a long cycle, front loader, with only a small amount of He detergent doesn't seem to have made any difference. frustrating.

I don't get this. I started a thread about my new 530's and what lint monsters they are when I use a quick detailer. How can other people not have this? I'm starting to think that these towels can't all be made in the same place or under the same process/conditions.

I initially thought that it had to be something self inflicted but then you read about others having the exact same issues. I am very interested in the differences between those that lint and those that do not since first the shamrocks linted for many but conversely there were also a large number that did not. Same seems to be happening here with the 530's.

Tha 530's shed for me as well and I can promise you it's not anything I've done. I'm actually surprised every time I read somebody saying they don't shed. .

Definately, its especially frustrating when you know you are following the manufacturer's directions to the T.

I got the same 530's on BOGO. I used them with Meg's QD with no lint at all....hmmm

Can someone post a pic of the linting since it is so obvious to some?

Are you see lint all over the paint?

Yes! About a month or 2 ago when I had finished washing my car I was QD with the 530's and it was terrible. Shedding ALL over the hood.

Interesting. I use the 530's with ONR so they are constantly wet and never experienced anything.

Bunky, good idea for pics. It may be the photo, but my 530s are grey with black piping, which, btw, I have no shedding problems. The towel in this photo looks white w/grey. Did Cobra change colors on the 530s, and if so, maybe the mf material and/or the manufacturing is not the same? Just a thought.

They are grey, but the light in the photo is washing the color out.

Has anyone tried wiping these on glass? WHOA! What is is about wiping microfiber on glass that makes them disintegrate? For some reason, it seems that using a quick detailer gives some of the same qualities to paint, thereby causing the linting.

Waffle weave, on the other hand, doesn't seem to lint on paint or glass, which is why it's a great choice for drying the entire car.

BTW: Autogeek (dwayne) is fantastic about correcting quality problems and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the Supreme 600's will be better.

You are 100% on that... I now only use them for dusting (dry) since as soon as you introduce QD to the mix, mass linting commences. Not only that, the lint is a pain in the rear end to remove as well.
