Premium Detailed 1996 Cobalt 22ft boat!

Nice Job Garry.

And on getting a complement like that from your customer, congratulations!

I may be detailing this boat again soon. This thing is beautiful with a proper detail.

Thanks Chris. How have you been bro?

I've been pretty good. I detailed a few cars here and there with a friend of mine. Doing what I can to keep busy. I'm just ready to graduate and start college lol.

Btw, my car's headlights still look great!

Good deal. Good to see you posting. Give me a call sometime.

Excellent turnaround! You stated that you used 1000, 2000, & 3000 grit sandpaper but I don't see that mentioned in the writeup. Did you just go straight to compounding without sanding?

Also, why would you clay the boat before sanding and compounding? I'm interested because I'm thinking about expanding to refinishing boats. Thanks!

I noticed that, too. I just don't see how it's possible to wet sand with 3 different grits, compound, and polish a boat like that in 20 hours???

Nonetheless, excellent work as usual! :props:

I wet sanded then compounded and polished one section at a time. The oxidation was extreme. I guess I forgot to mention it in the picture comments.

Yeah that was a failed attempt at actually clay barring the boat. It did nothing but stick and mess up a good bar of clay. I highly recommend against even attempting to clay surfaces that are this oxidized, especially if you are going to wet sand.

This was over two years ago if you notice the date. I just looked.back at my notes on this one and that was a typo. I actually spent 30 hours on this boat. That's exactly why I prefer doing videos much more than writeups with tons of pics. I say everything I need to say in the vids.

Thanks for the compliment, Mark.

Haha, I didn't even notice you resurrected your own thread from the dead. Glad you did though, as it's a great turnaround. How does the boat look 2 years later? Have you done any maintenance on it at any point in between?

What I mean Garry, is that was a difficult job. It took someone with knowledge, determination and drive to complete

A.K.A. ~ Man's Game.....seperating the men from the boys is another terminology ;)

No prob. No, I haven't even seen it in over 2 years. I can only imagine what type of pig it will look like..
