Evans' influence goes beyond the under-represented writing credits (Davis was unapologetic and well known for appropriating the work of others).
"According to many sources, Miles concept for the modally-conceived tunes of the sessions was indeed based on the playing of Evans and his piano sound is so much a part of the ambience of this historic album."
Listen to Evans' intro for "So What". It pretty much shapes the sound of the rest of the album. The more blues based "Freddy the Freeloader" notwithstanding.
