Just picked up a silver 07 z06 with 5K miles. Car was always garaged by the previous owner, but I don't have that luxury. Paint is in good shape. I'd like to give it a good cleaning, though. I would assume claying would be in order? Is it really worth polishing considering the car is always outside? If not, should I use something else to clean the paint other than clay? Considering my situation, what is the BEST protectant for the paint? I'd like to apply a carnauba as an LSP. I live in Southern California, so it rains few and far between, and it never gets below 32 degrees.

Thanks :xyxthumbs:

I answered your post on Corvetteforum so heres the quick version:

wash, clay, polish or paint cleanser, protection

Paint Cleansers -- Pinnacle, P21S, Dodo
Protection -- Four Star UPP or SSII by Pinnacle
Spray Upkeep --- FK425 or FK146

I actually just replied on CF before I red this.

Thanks Scott!!

I would use four star or wolfgang paint sealant then apply a wax on top of the sealant for more protection. Also make sure your wash it often and use quick detail. Try out Lucas Oil Quick Detail it is a hidden gem for sure.

Thanks guys. I wash my car every Saturday. I will apply Four Star UPP, let that cure, then apply Pinnacle Sig series II. I have some Crystal Mist I will use in between washes.

I don't know if you are as anal about your vette as I'm with my G35. I QD every morning except when it's raining and I do not have a garage or even a cover. I have not washed my G in 18 mos. When dirty I presoak with ONR (QD strength).

look at this old thread . Its great how people learn from this site .

My suggestion would be after you have spent the time correcting the paint, that you put a breathable car cover on if its left to open. A good sealant. You want to protect the surface from those pest's that fly in the air (sea gulls, etc.), that seem to use your car for target practice.
