I'm curious as to who has an automotive lift (2-post, 4-post, side lift, etc) in their home garage? I'm not interested in the ones that have a lift for storage, but rather the ones used for auto repair or detailing purposes?

What size is your garage? Ceiling height? What brand did you go with? Would you go another route if you did it over again? Whatever you want to share. And pictures would be great.

Very nice, Smooth. How big is the garage? And isn't the item you want to lift suppose to go on top of the lift? :poke:

I have problem getting that right. The garage or my part of the house is 1300 sq ft. We don't go on big vacation we spend all of out time and money improving the place. We do all the labor ourself to save money.... just like detailing your own car plus you will always spend the extra effort when you do it yourself.

I think im going to have to block this thread in fear i might become uncontrollably jealous.

Nice one of the shop my buddy owns has a 2 post and 4 post lift and there great to detail on

Thanks for the comments. Here is a couple more. I have 3 TVs, laid out like a triangle around the garage, that are hand me downs from the house. I like to be able to just glance up when I am working on something. It is insulated with a heater and air conditioner. I designed the house so that when you step into the house from the garage there is a rest room. Sorry did not mean to highjack the thread. On the lift, Pro Park 8 PLUS - Four Post Lift when I can afford it, I would like to buy another sliding hydraulic jack. They are $500 and weight 350lb Pro Jack 3500 That way you could just drive on and quickly lift all four wheels, easy to polish.:buffing::buffing: I got my lift out of Texas and had it delivered to a local trucking yard. I used a engine Hoist to assemble it. My dad has used it so much he is going to get one for his shop. If your married tell your wife it will pay for itself doing your own oil changes.

I polish everything. and it too will go on the lift.:buffing:

Smooth, your garage, yard, cars, etc is just too cool. It's great to have a good set-up in the man cave. We installed a 2-post lift in the shop several yaers ago. It has been wonderful. We got it off a dealer used for less than $1000. Only problem is it is 20 miles from my new house. It is where we store several cars (66 Nova, 66 Chevelle, 55 Chevy, 65 Impala Conv, 59 Impala Coupe, 2009 Chevy Silverado). Every Tuesday night is "shop night" with the guys. Great times!! :dblthumb2:

Thanks for posting the pictures, Smooth. You're not hijacking, this is what I was hoping for.

One thing to think about is to have a lift when it is up you can walk under it. Here is another pic of the view from my garage.

Oooh, it lifts 86". Nice. I've never been under a lift that I could stand straight under. When I did my clutch I found that out. It was my first being under a lift where I worked on the vehicle. Got her done in like 4-5 hours which includes getting the flywheel resurfaced. That's compared to my 12 hour shade tree clutch job a year earlier (bad clutch from the get-go and never had time ot change it). My legs were so sore the next day lol.

Yes very nice lifting height @ 86" i am 6' 2" and can easily walk standing up underneath one. I am actually a Distributor for Direct Lift in Michigan. I work for Automotive Lift & Alignment. So if you have some more questions to ask about lifts whether it be 2 post or 4 post feel free to ask. If you are looking at the 4 post car lift, motorcycle lift, auto lifts, automotive lift, garage lift, automotive lifts, 2 post lift, 4 post lift has a ceiling height calculator to help you determine if your cars will fit with the ceiling you have. We also have more info on our low ceiling height 2 post lifts @ Automotive Lift & Alignment

what type of lift are you getting 2 or 4 and also the brand, shop looks awesome by the way i would love to have a shop like that

Well since I said 2 post then I would assume we are getting a 2 post ;)
