Best Clay?

I buy either Meg clay or Mothers OTC. Never had a problem with either and hopefully I do not cause a ruckuss but this IS MY OPINION....clay is clay. BLASPHEMY!!! If I clay bar the car I will be polishing if minor scratches are present. No need for aggressive polishing as paint is already perfect. Clean and then put a coat of sealant topped of with a great wax...all put on by a DA polisher. I have not had a problem this way for a few years. I am ready for the BASHING!!.....LOL
 
I have used Meguiars OTC clay side by side with the Riccardo's and I prefer the Meguiars. It just seemed to remove more of the contaminants and did not leave a haze or scratches that I could see using a swirl finder type light. I think Riccardo's would be ideal for a lightly contaminated car.
 
I got some Meguiar's OTC that works fine for me. Only one I've ever used thus far (but I'm a rookie)
 
I've used Meg's clay kit as well as the Mothers. I preferred the Mothers myself in the kits, Meg's was too fine for my liking. If you have an Advance Auto Parts I know some of them Cary a small line of Griots products. I actually like the Griots MUCH better as an OTC clay since I can buy it locally. It all depends what you are wanting to compare. If you want a clay that you can go down the street and pick up if you need it or if you want to order it.
 
Another vote for Mother's, but I also used (Pinnacle) XMT yellow all last year. These are the only two I have experience with. I have some Pinnacle grey at home but have never used it. Between the Mother's and XMT, the XMT is a bit softer and easier to knead, but other than that, couldn't tell a difference in performance!

Again...another area/product where Mother's stuff is sometimes underestimated in the botique products comparison world...IMO.
 
I really like megs mild clay. For me it was aggressive enough for tough jobs yet gentle enough for lightly contaminated paint. Plus it seems to be more clay then what others offer and it comes in a jar with a screw on cap so you dont need a dedicated container for it.
 
Go with Car-Pro Poly Shave. Just as good as any clay, faster, cheaper and will last longer and they make a pad for a DA as well. Just as good as Nanoskin at 1/2 the price
 
The clay patent has expired and now Ricc is available in the US. So with clay once only being made by one manufacturer for everyone in the US that may no longer be the case. Everyone may have there own new formulas and tweeks so who knows what you are and are not getting. With the patent expiring the differences in clay have now grown. Once again though Car Pro Poly Shave,

Easy to work with, not so hard so it's easy to kneed.
I buy a few packs at a time, two bars per pack.
Blue in color.

clay magic (blue) has always worked well for me and being able to find it in a pinch OTC is a plus. looks like they have another type of clay as well...

I agree. Clay Magic is one of the best clay bars for the money. There are better alrernatives to clay, but I prefer to use clay bars.
