Best Clay?

Are there any brick and mortar chains that carry the Clay Magic clay?

It used to be at PepBoys back in the day, Autozone too but you can get Mother's or Mequiars clay bar kits just about anywhere.

For years I used Meguiar's over the counter clay but now I only use Clay Magic, only cost a few bucks and like all clay bars it removes contaminants.
Easy to work with, not so hard so it's easy to kneed.
I buy a few packs at a time, two bars per pack.
Blue in color.

Like 8 bucks with free shipping, great deal:dblthumb2:

Where do you get Clay Magic for only a few bucks. I went to the site and it's $27.99 + shipping for one bar. What am I missing?Feed back please

K-Mart for about $11-$12 for 100 gram bar (blue). I caught them on sale a while back and bought them for <$6 each. Needless to say I bought all they had.

Haven't used any of them yet though.

Still using my Turtle wax bars (have plenty of these too) and really like them. I haven't used any Clay-Magic poly clay, but I assume the Turtle wax is similar. TW has a shiny look to it in the package and in use, and is sort of plasticy feeling. Real nice clay for the $4 I paid for them, and work well for real light claying jobs.

I've used Meg's Pro bars and Meg's otc (gray/whitish colored) bars and like them as well. The Meg's otc seem a bit more aggressive than my Mothers bars which tend to be soft and sticky like Griot's bars.

They are not the same. May be the same technology, but they're not the same. Different cut to each and most feel and kneed differently. My two cents...

I seen some Clay Magic bars at Pep-Boys just last week, but haven't noticed them and any other local ap stores...just the usual Meg's and Mothers.

That said, if you can't or don't have time to order some clay, then by all means check any and all of your local auto parts stores. You'll at the least find some otc clays if they're not sold out.

My Pep Boys doesn't carry clay magic. Cannot find a b&r store in my town that does.

i saw the clay magic kit at pepboys, k-mart (they sell the clay by itself as well), and i think autozone carries it as well...

I am surprised nobody has mentioned that according to the Junkman, Clay Magic is the maker of all clay's, at least in the USA, the others are just rebranded Clay Magic. He goes on to ask the question, why not just go to the source? It makes sense, because other than an aggressive vs non-aggressive clay etc, it would seem clay is clay.

I've always used Meguiars clay kit. I recently did a good number of vehicles and had to throw the clay away. I just ordered some from Adam's. Can't wait to see how it works.

Over the counter:)

Thanks. That was my first assumption, but I thought, "can their be prescription-only clay bars?" And I could not find an answer googling so I thought I'd post.

What is non-OTC clay?

OTC meaning over the counter= readily available at the local store.
Non OTC meaning, you have to get it through mail order/internet as opposed to what you can buy at your local parts house.

Thanks. Cute dog in your avatar.

Is the quality of products available online that much better than what is available at the brick and mortar stores? For instance, is Meguiar's sold at Pep Boys of a lesser quality than Meguiar's sold thru autogeekonline?

If the product number is the same, it will be the same no matter where you purchase.

It's just that some products are NOT readily available at a lot of brick/mortar outlets.

Make sense?

In a related question. How long do you guys keep your clay? I usually grab a $20 mothers or meguiar's set with two bricks from an auto parts store and will use one brick once and then toss. Am I being paranoid?

if you can keep molding it to a fresh side then it's still good...
