Maybe because it is true? ;)
 
The Clay Magic patent expired over a year ago and even before while Clay Magic owned the patent to manufacture that does not take into account that they manufactured clay differently for different companies.

Do you have a link that shows this information? If it is true, it is documented at the patent office.
 
I really like the aggressive clay when I know I'm going to be polishing. I don't think I've ever used it and not gotten the "clay haze'.
 
can't go wrong with the original blue clay magic bar...

Patent

Patents are allowed to last 20 years from their original filing date for utility patents. This information can be found here

In summary "the term of a patent begins on the date that the patent issues and ends of the date that is twenty years from the date on which the application was filed in the U.S. or, if, the application contained a specific reference to an earlier filed application or applications under 35 USC 120, 121 or 365(c), twenty years from the filing date of the earliest of such application."

This is why last summer there were more than a few companies touting new clay.
 
I still don't see the information that clearly states the THIS patent has expired. Surely there is something that states that in plain English if it is true.

Refer to clay magics press release site and to a document called 7-5-05-judgement.pdf. Wherein in it does clear state in plain english that "this permanent injunction shall continue until the '933 Patent expires in 2013."

The '933 patent is actually #5,727,993 (gotta love misprints in legal documents) which covers the constituents of clay, and the purpose of clay in method 57:

57. A method of polishing a protrusion or stain from a surface, comprising:

applying a plastic flexible tool to the surface, the plastic flexible tool comprising a plastic flexible material having mixed therewith an abrasive comprising grains from about 3 to 50 .mu.m in diameter; and

applying a force to the plastic flexible tool such that a polishing force per area is applied by the plastic flexible tool to a protrusion or stain on the surface, and such that the amount of force per area applied to the surface is less than the amount of force per area applied to the protrusion or stain.
