Engine Dressing Question

Hello Everyone,

I would like to see if there is a dry engine detailing dressing you use. When I detail engines, I dress them with Stoners More Shine. The comes out very nice but, in a short amount of time, it collects debris on it.

Please let me know!!

Try CD2...all engine dressing will collect some dust.
 
I think CD-2 engine detailer is one of the best dressings for engines. It is acrylic based so it does not attract dust or dirt like oil based dressings. It has really good durability and can be either look glossy or like new with a wipe down after it has dried. It is also available OTC at autozone and such.
 
You might consider trying 303 Protectant. It's water-based and will not draw dust like petroleum-based products, at least so I understand.

But also +1 on CD-2.

You might also try Hyper-Dressing.
 
CD-2 recommended on this site is the only product I tried and I really like it,I dirve off road and dirt hasn't been an issue.

This is what it is...yes, it's made by turtle wax, but it really works great for dressing the engine. I got mine at autozone. I was really impressed with it.

And this item goes on dry, does not collect any dust/debris and looks nice and wet?

Hi Stephen, just what exactly do you mean when you ask if it goes on dry? Do you mean that you clean the engine, then spray it on a dry engine? If so, yes, that's all you do. You spray it on (it will look very wet after spraying), then leave hood open for 20 mins to allow product to penetrate and solvents to evaporate. Then uncover protected components and run the engine for 20 mins to set the engine detailer resins and form a smooth uniform coating.

I detailed my engine on Jan 1st (was my first time ever detailing an engine), and it still looks good. IMO the product did not attract dust and debris. Of course I have some dirt now, but it's been a while. But it did not seem sticky like some dressings are which attract dust. I think you'll like it if you try it!

The engine block had some dark stains that I just could not get off, but other than that, I think it turned out pretty good. I did not use the hose to wash it (still nervous about spraying water in the engine bay). I just wiped it down good with some ONR at QD strength and water after covering the alternator.
 
I find CD-2 very easy to use, and I like very much the results I get from it. I have a couple cans of the stuff and do not anticipate using any other product as an engine dressing for a couple of years. Here's a pic of my S2000's engine after being dressed with CD-2:
