Well looks like I really did it :(

Apologies to everyone...

I read this after the it started and once it was clear the tool was driven over by a car I never expected the thread to go as far as it has and quite frankly everyone here is pretty busy setting up for Detail Fest so it's not that we don't pay attention to the threads on our forum it's just time has been kind of scant.

Griot's is a great company and their people are top notch, sometimes a discussion forum doesn't always lend itself well for as the best means of resolving these kinds of issues. It's easy for all of us seasoned forum veterans to post away but we're "forum people".

The point I want to make is in an effort to bring this issue to an end if Jon will send me the broken unit we will send him a new replacement and lets bring this thread to a happy ending.

Deal?

Holy cow!!! That's awesome! Wow, talk about stepping up when not even being involved! :props:

WOW! I'm floored. Talk about stepping up (Not that I wasn't before!)! You guys just made me a customer for life! BTW, my PC looks a little scuffed and worn. Can I send it to you and exchange it for a new one?!:D:D:D

Makes sense. I'm confident this situation will be cleared up, especially if Griot's see this thread. Griot's needs to make it clear that replacement parts are not available when buying this polisher.
I always thought if you were going to put your name on a product you should back it up with parts, service
and whatever else it takes. The timing could not be better with DF this weekend. Bravo to AG for stepping up. No more from me until I hear Griot's side and take.

WOW. I'm a fairly new forum member, and customer (AG has only got a few paychecks) But after reading this post, I'm a customer for life. On a side note, I had a bottle of Klasse interior cleaner break open with one of my orders, and AG sent me a new one with no hassle at all. Great products, and great service!

I disagree to a point, especially if it's user error. No offense to Jon, just generally speaking.

That's the real deal! AG customer for life now!!
Just FYI, Heidi at Griots is still looking into this. The primary concern is how to replace the piece SAFELY. It appears as though you'd have to remove the power cord to replace this piece. I'm sure they're trying to make sure they're not liable for anything that an end user might accidentally do, like shock and kill themselves....

Ok, just got home from a busy day to find out Griots and Autogeek are willing to swap machines.

Mike was kind enough to offer me a personal number to call him on to get the situation worked out, but I don't think it will be necessary.
I was raised not accept free things, especially when the mishap was 100% MY fault. While the offer is more than appreciated (text doesn't show how truly thankful I really am) I cannot accept.
I retract my previous accusations towards Griots and will apologize for the cruel things I said about them. I know how hard $130 dollars is to come by, and I cannot accept something of that value for free. I am still hoping there is a way to repair the polisher, but if there isn't I will purchase another Griots DA solely on the fact that they were willing to take it this far to satisfy my needs. Thank you AutoGeek, and thank you Griots for the truly kind offer, but I cannot accept a free unit, and will purchase another one within a few weeks.

Thank you everyone who supported my cause, and to those of us who disagreed no hard feeling, please. Be easy everyone.

I saw this post last evening and kept back from comment because you owned up to it being your error. I commend you on showing integrity here too ... its all to often lost in our society. Good things come to those that show honesty, and you will be rewarded in other ways ! :props:

Hey no hard feelins from me man! When Heidi gets back to me I'll holler at you and see what can be done about the part :dblthumb2:

Not easy to reject something for free, but I understand where you're coming from. That says a lot about you. :props: If they can't get you the part to fix the polisher, you know what you're trying to do was right. It would then be out of your hands, and since they offered to swap it out, do it. Sometimes our emotions get the best of us. I do this WAY too much. :(

Glad to hear it is all working out. Griot's is now back on my list. And AG has cemented itself at the top of the list.

JonM - You are truly a stand up guy. An option, if you can't pay for your machine to be repaired, may be to get the free GG, and then load up on supplies from AG. Win-win!!

Z - tried to PM you, but your mailbox is too full! Anyway, hope you're right, cause I'll be ordering my ROP soon.

Thanks all!

Stick around. It just gets better :xyxthumbs:

...and that's way I like buying from AG! You guys should really be commended for offering something that's really in short supply these days: above and beyond the call of duty customer service.

Mr. Clean WA: It would still be nice to keep up to date on the availability of replacement parts.

I have had a busy day too. Now to come home and see how this situation has transpired is heart warming. As I said previously, Griots has always resolved any problems. They truly value their customers. This is a prime example and should be taken to heart by anyone when deciding which polisher to buy. They are a first class company and being sold by a first class company - Autogeek.

Autogeek staff, good show. Way to step up and take care of the situation. Solidified a lot of customers with that move (I was already hooked).

JonW. Admirable decision. I commend you for showing the ethical fortitude to say "thanks, but, no thanks". However, you might consider this. Take the polisher. They will be able to absorb the cost easily as they are a big company. Take the $130 and spend it on Griots products purchased through Autogeek. You will likely find a lot of things you like in their line (I could recommend several). AG makes a little money, Griots recoupes a little now. Then AG and GG make money over your lifetime as you continue to buy products from them both. Win - Win - Win for all of you.

One thing about the detailing world, I found that the customer service from a product, pad or machine is covered with top notch service.

I for one thought my new G100 wasn't spinning too well at all......:buffing:

I didn't want a replacement at first thinking it was operator error but at the time Meguiar's wanted to send me a new one.
I offered to send my G100 to Meguiar's and have it tested by someone at an open garage.

I sent it off and low and behold, Mike Phillips tested it and said it was good to go and I later figured out it was pad saturation and I was using too much product.

Now I sent this in on my own dime and when it returned, I got a couple of new pads and an updated backing plate (W67DA) with it, to which I sent my old W64DA backing plate to a fellow MOL member who needed one and didn't have the money.

Mike, not sure if you remember this.....:D

Nappers wasn't sure if his G100 was working properly so he sent it to use to compare against known good units and from experience and were happy to say it's working just like it's supposed to.

Had I sent it in and got a new machine and fell right into where I left off, I would be unsatisfied with my results.

Yeah, I could have gotten a new machine but I really wanted to make sure I didn't have a good machine and it was really operator error. A reward for my good behavior, I added pads to my arsenal and got an updated backing plate to boot!

I can't say enough about the detailing world's customer service. Especially here at Autogeek.

Good show!

I once ran over my battery charger, that day wasn't very good.....I felt the bump and it was trashed. My father in law bought me a new one for my birthday later and haven't left it out since :D

Sorry about that. I cleared them.

Can't wait for you to get the Griot's ROP!! :buffing:

Wuz wondering if you could use a plastic epoxy to get that case back on track if you aren't going to send it back.

I've used the plastic epoxy and it works great, heck even regular epoxy works wonders. I used it on my turn signal switch on my '64 chevy which broke on all 3 corners where the screw mounts are and it's still going strong to this day (epoxied it in '98 or so). It may be a little grusome looking but get it back in shape.

Unbelievable "Aegian" service once again Mike P! You guys rockIm the MAN

JonM, :urtheman:
Integrity is in short supply in this world. You were taught well...
