Detail Fest 5 pics

He thanked everybody for attending, then told everybody that all the vendors have agreed to give away all of the stuff they had on display (Although, I think he said "excluding buffers/polishers"). It basically turned into a free-for-all mad dash. I wouldn't have gotten much, except my cousin was with me and since he knew nothing about detailing, he just started grabbing everything in sight! It was actually pretty crazy at the end!

Probably Dave from Meguiar's.:)
While we're on the subject of Dave from Meguiar's, I would like say thanks sharing your knowledge with me and especially showing me how to use a rotary. You got me drooling all over the Flex rotary!!

In the picture taken at the Optimum booth, there was a spray bottle with a label that was different from any of their current spray products. It looked like it was labeled Optimum Opticlean. Could this be the rumored waterless wash? If so, is it ready for prime time?

How come I haven't seen any pics of Matt's red S2000?

It was in the Cover Craft booth Saturday being used to demo a Noah cover. I still detailed it so I could show it on Sunday...I normally wouldn't have agreed to do this, but the stipulation was that I get to keep the car cover, so it was a no brainer for me considering I own a cat, LOL.

A few people got pics of my car from Sunday, hopefully they will post them up. I put a ton of work into it throughout the week to get it looking perfect.

Great pictures Corey, thanks for sharing them!!! Your Skybaby looks absolutely Freaken Awesome, the paint looks perfect, as does the entire car!! So does your Adam, Great job guys!!!

What was the announcement???

Whoops, Ford boy beat me to the punch :)
That's funny:laughing:. The last 5 vehicles before the Mustang and Expy were 3 Chevies, a Nissan and a BMW. In fact, my DD is the Chevy truck in my sig.

I put more pics in the gallery. I have not figured out how to organize them and using gallery yet.

Thanks for posting those pics Corey! I did some slow scrolling through those :xyxthumbs:

Mine's on the far right. Another guy actually had a red '06, but his has a front lip.

Good thing I put hours and hours into getting my paint picture-perfect, only for the sun to hide away.... :(

Matt, Car Covers = bad news for your paint lol.

I'll admit, I was worried! My paint is SO soft that M205 on a gray pad leaves it VERY cloudy, and it swirls just by looking at it. So after putting ALL that work into my paint, I was worried it would get marred some way or another.

But, Jason and I installed the cover and I removed it very carefully. I looked over the car afterwards and there was no marring whatsoever. I'll keep using it in the future...just goes to show that a quality cover and clean paint is indeed safe, even on softer paints.

So how do you finish? I've got that problem on super-soft, black Harley paint. Can't get 205 to finish without micromarring regardless of pad. Still experimenting with 85rd & Ultrafina... haven't hit the exact recipe just yet.

I haven't worked with paint as soft as yours from the sound of it. But have you tried:
the grey flat pad, 85RD, fast speed, 3-4 passes with pressure, and then 3-4 passes with no pressure. I'm using Flex DA with that combo for finishing (#6 speed on my Flex)

Of course before I hit it with that step I use 85RD with white pad and before that the tangerine HT with WTSR
