Help ME pick my next car

It is a heavier car and all heavier cars are hard on the suspension. Struts and springs can be upgraded with better components and a strut tower brace makes a big difference as well. If you want it to handle better, a 1" to 2" drop helps quite a bit. Also good tires are worth their weight in gold. You get what you pay for rings very true here.

As far as the radiators, the only problems that I have seen is where vehicles were not properly maintained. Dex Cool is a very good coolant but I don't believe any fluid should be change at 100,000 to 150,000 miles. At most 60,000 miles on the coolant with a good system flush.

The GTO wasn't designed to be a true performance car like the Vette or Stang. More of an all around performance car/family coupe was the goal. That said, it is hard to compare it with the other two. If I can help in any other way, please let me know.

Thanks for the info, most of the stuff I had heard was about the radiator cracking and leaking, is this caused by dexcool?

Can I include a 4th wheel? Good, how about a BMW. A six-speed, V8, charcoal on black, with Navi, 0-60 in 5.5 seconds.

like the Beemers, but have heard that maintenance is a killer on them.

Can anyone chime in on the hardness of C5 paint?
Thanks

BMW maintenance is bad and insanely expensive if you take it to a dealer. I've spent under $200 on my BMW (2001 330Ci Sport Option) so far.

Oil Change - $50
Water Pump - $60
Coolant - $20
T-Stat - $34

M's cost more to maintain, but if you turn your own wrench, they can be rewarding cars IMO.

BMWs are more expensive to modify though. Anyways, it sounds like you are sold on the Vette... So go get a Z06!

Most of the radiators built now are aluminum core with plastic end caps. Plastic can only take so many heat cycles and it will expand at a different rate than aluminum. Dex Cool isn't the cause of the radiators failing. Most radiators leak where the end cap meets the aluminum core. This is typical in any manufacturer whether it is domestic or import.

What about an 07-08 Honda S2000? They're good little cars. Here's the specs on an 07: 2007 Honda S2000 specs, auto safety at Edmunds. Specs are basically identically for the 07-08 models. With the 08 year, you have the option of the CR model vs. the base model. I know both akimel and matt (matt@autogeek) both have S2000's, might ask them what they think.

Vette is the perfect weekend car! Have fun. Really hard clear means more fun with AG toys and products :)

Doesn't really hard clear mean it is harder to get scratches/swirls in the paint? Wouldn't that be the case? I'm sure they would be harder to get out but I'd assume harder to put in as well..
Thanks pokey, this thread was inspired by you! haha :xyxthumbs:

I am far from an expert but from what I understamd the hard clears actually mar pretty easy but are harder to correct. Somebody a lot smarter than me will have a better answer. Glad I could inspire the thought!

Cobalt trader!!!!!!! :bash: only kidding stick with chevy go for the vette

How is a Genesis or 350Z more expensive than a Z06? Anyway, if these options are out add me to the Honda S2000 vote then. Trust me, nothing wrong with a Vette! I just like to be different.

Hmm I'll have to do some more research..I'm not sure why that would be though?

Haha I have two Cobalts..they're fine once you get all the kinks out...

They aren't more expensive, they're just nowhere near on the same performance level as the Vette. Obviously the G35 is more of a luxury coupe than a performer, but even the 350Z doesn't come close to the Z06.

I'll have to give the S2K another look...I do love the way they look. If I were looking for a touring type car I would definitely look into the 350, they have great fit and finish.

I like my imports :)

Some imports are great, others suck. Just like everything else, lol.

If you sell the white one keep me in mind.Im the MANIm the MANIm the MAN

If you don't plan on modding after buying then the ZO6 hands down. But if you plan on tinkering with it (suspension, full exhaust, ext) 03/04 Cobra all day. Great used parts market, great aftermarket support.

Haha are you in the market? I'm considering selling it but I'm not sure..it only has 10K miles and a 70,000 mile warranty. Plus I've got Stage1 put on it and have already went through the pains of getting all the warranty work done on it that was inevitable.

Thanks wytstang, I know that the aftermarket is great for both cars, but it's definitely more broad AND less expensive for the termi. I might be tinkering with the car a good bit...
