It is a heavier car and all heavier cars are hard on the suspension. Struts and springs can be upgraded with better components and a strut tower brace makes a big difference as well. If you want it to handle better, a 1" to 2" drop helps quite a bit. Also good tires are worth their weight in gold. You get what you pay for rings very true here.
As far as the radiators, the only problems that I have seen is where vehicles were not properly maintained. Dex Cool is a very good coolant but I don't believe any fluid should be change at 100,000 to 150,000 miles. At most 60,000 miles on the coolant with a good system flush.
The GTO wasn't designed to be a true performance car like the Vette or Stang. More of an all around performance car/family coupe was the goal. That said, it is hard to compare it with the other two. If I can help in any other way, please let me know.
