What Camera do you use (and do you like it)!

I've been using a Canon S5is, love it. It's very easy too use and can take great pics, I'm partial to cannons for the CHDK program that you can run on nearly all Canon's giving it capability's of a high-end SLR.

For battery's I suggest Sanyo Eneloop's. I also got and extra 8-pack of the AA's. These rechargeable battery's actually last. :xyxthumbs:

Very cool...Canon seems to be getting a lot of love on this thread so far!
And Xcessiv...very cool picture..I hope to be able to detail a ride like that sometime soon...need a few things first (starting with a rotary) but then ill be practicing my ass off!:buffing: ....just hoping i can find a good deal on a kit or a used one. The list keeps growing....its alive!
 
I have to second the Sanyo Eneloops. I'm told if you have a Costco near by that they're often available at a really good price.

I've used a lot of camera's and read a lot of reviews. One thing that I have noticed, is you have to take reviews with a grain of salt.

Features that you want, since they are useful:
Image Stabilization
Some kind of control - especially flash on/off
Close focusing mode


If you can stomach it, always better to read reviews and find out if folks state that they've found a particular camera to be delicate. A camera that can't travel well especially around the work area - like detailing, won't hold up. If folks say the AF on the camera is slow, that will also frustrate you.
 
Canon 50D, with multiple lenses, great resolution and ease of use.
Also have a Sony T-100 compact digital 5megapixel, keep in the car with me all the time..
 
Canon SD 850 Used to have the 750, then upgraded & wouldnt buy anything else.
 
Nikon d40 with a few lenses, low priced SLR and it does the job.
 
I had a Panasonic Lumix that was fantastic...until some clown stole it out of my car when at a car show last month! :mad:

I replaced it with a new Lumix, plus I got a Canon EOS SXi SLR for more serious work. The Lumix is even better than the prior one, but I haven't had much time to work with the Canon yet.

I figure between those two, there's not likely much I can't handle when I need to take photos.

I use a Nikon D40 and love it. It is very simple to use if your new to SLR's but when you get better the camera has the ability to be get more complicated.
 
Nikon D3000 with the kit lens + 35mm prime
And yes it's a very nice "everyday" camera, easy to use, and pretty light for a DSLR.
 
My DSLR is a Sony Alpha 700 (12MP). I think I paind about $800 at Circuit City in their last couple of weeks of existence. I love it for the most part but I can't wait to get something with a higher resolution. Fast autofocus good size and very good image quality.
My compact camera is a Sony Cybershot W170. It's a decent camera but I really wish I had got something else
 
I shoot a Canon 7d currently and it is amazing. The low-light capabilities of this camera will change how you shoot forever.
I also have and shot for the past 6 years a 20d, and I loved that camera as well.

Once you get invested in lenses you get stuck with a brand, so choose wisely. I go back and forth with some of my photography friends that shoot Nikon, and it is pretty much a toss up. Canon usually comes out with new features first, but Nikon catches up quickly. I still give Nikon a black mark for trying to force photographers work flows to use their software by encrypting the white balance information (which they finally relented on) but I still hate them for doing it initially.
 
I have a Canon 30D. It's a pretty good little camera. More importantly, I have a few lenses that I really like. Like the 50mm 1.8, the 70-200 4.0l and the 24-105mm f/4L.

Haven't found a reason to upgrade the camera body yet. My money is better spent on glass.

..Maybe when full frame comes down in price.
 
I just picked up a Canon EOS REBEL T1i 15.1mp a few weeks ago and absolutely love it.


LOL as I typed this there was a Canon commercial on the TV :)
 
I got me a Canon 7D with a grip and double battery and a few lenses: 50 1.8 / 55-250 / 28-135 / 10-22 / 24-70 2.8 / 70-200 2.8 MKI. Also got a 580exII flash, carbon fiber flash.
