New to the website and I was trying to get some stubborn water marks / stains on my cars windows. I parked under a pool and it leaked onto the windows leaving what looks like water marks from what I am assuming is the chlorine in the pool. I've tried a couple different things and have had no success. Please help.

Parked under a pool? How?

I've removed the worst water spots I've ever seen with Glass Science Glass Scrub, but I think it may have left some marring on the glass. Not sure if I did it though. as they were 15 year old windows. I've heard that other people have had success just using a polish intended for paint, I'm sure someone will chime in on that.

Ocean City Maryland on vacation and the parking for the condo complex was under everything including yes you guessed it the pool. It was nice because the car didn't sit in the sun all day but now i cant seem to get the marks out.

Sorry for your unfortunate luck on vaction Clorine is very aggersive . Have you tried claying the windows / if the claying doesn't fix it ,you may have o polish the windows with a window polish kit
:dblthumb2:
LOL Steve

In addition to the chlorine issue, there are probably lime deposits too. I have had good experience polishing with a clay bar. If that doesn't do the job, try white vinegar and/or glass polish. Be sure to check the paint on your car for mineral deposits also.

Diamondite my best bet for claying the windows? And is it a difficult thing to do?

One more question.... I keep reading not to use certain products on tinted windows. Tinted windows mean after market tinting right? The windows with the stains on them are tinted or smoked (whatever you want to call it) but it was from the factory not after market.

Tint is tint Mike, be it OEM or aftermarket. :) I think that would be ammonia, because it will dry out the tint which is a film.

Tints would be on the inside side of the windows, so water marks, scratches, etc are usually outside and can be polished out. :)

So the manufacturer doesn't actually tint tfe windows, but they put a sheet on like aftermarket?

Yes, here in my country at least, i'm not sure if it's the same there though. Most manufacturers use 3m tints.

I can't tell you of one auto manufacturer that applies a film like aftermarket. I'm sure there is "dealer installed" film window tint but factory tinting is in the glass.

So it's actually IN the glass when it is OEM?

Yes, most of the time.

And I have never had luck with claying out water spots on windows...and I've used all sorts of other chemicals applied by hand. If I were you I'd use a rotary or DA polisher with some paint specific polish or light cutting paint polish to try and get rid of the spots.
HTH

Ah i see. So they do tint the plastic laminate between the glasses. That's why I said I wasn't sure how it worked there. :)

Thanks for clearing that out. We don't have that here. lol. But that would be way better than filming on the tint. the films are super sensitive to scratches. The only downside i could think of is when you want to remove the OEM tint, you'd have to replace the glass.

can you polish the inside of the window, I also have some strange drip or streak marks that regular glass cleaner is not taking out, but its on the inside of my passenger side window.

What are some good glass polishes that will not mar?
