Taping problems

I tried a cap full of Megs Gold Class in a 32 oz sprayer and that seemed to work fine. It seemed like the clay tended to be a little tackier, but that was partially remedied by keeping my hands wet with the soap/water mixture.

I'm open to other cost effective suggestions for clay lube.

If you find that the clay is tending to stick or hang up while claying then more lubrication is needed. If you feel you have plenty of liquid on the surface but the clay isn't sliding effortlessly then try using 2 cap fulls of liquid Gold Class in 32 ounces of water. My formula mixes 1 ounce of liquid soap in 32 ounces of water.

sorry- what I meant by "tacky" was that the clay was sticking to my hands more than normal and having little bits peel off because of it. As long as I sprayed a little on my hand before working on a panel, it was fine.

The mixture I made was actually right on. It wasn't too soapy, and never really dragged on the surface.

Ahhh, I gotcha now!! :props:

I hate when clay gets "tacky", any advice on ways to avoid this happening?

Just clayed with Blackfire Poly Clay II. First time I have used it and it took off everything. I lubricated with FK425, but now I can't get the blue painters tape to even come close to sticking to it.

I guess I will be polishing the black trim tomorrow.

Hi If you are looking for a good clay lube that is very cost effective look no further then Optimum no rinse wash and shine cost 7.99 for a 8oz containter that you mix with a gallon of distilled water which is like 1.19. Make and excellent lube and you get a gallon for under 10$

FK #425 leaves a very slick surface as well :/

Thought about it overnight, glass cleaner to glass, plastic, rubber, chrome, etc and the tape sticks to everything. Just had to get the FK425 residue off.
