NEW- Daytona Speed Master MINI Wheel Brush

i have the large daytona and am tired of having Megs WB flung at my face... just ordered a Racegalze xl wheel brush to try out instead or in addition to.

I actually have chemical burns on my chin from being in a slight rush with the "speed master" brush hope this redness fades now that it has peeled... again

I just used my Daytona Speed Master brush (I got the regular and the mini) and I have to say that I was really disappointed in how badly the brush would sling wheel cleaner back at me!

It was quite ridiculous actually.

I was saying to myself "I can't believe this brush gets so many positive reviews". Total pain in the butt to use.

Take a 9" disposable plastic plate and cut a line fron the edge to the middle. Open a 1/8 hole in the middle and slide it over the handle of the brush. It stops the splatter from getting on you and since your using such hot wheel cleaner it will protect you. You can also consider a "welders style face shield"

I use p21S becasue it works, is safe for me and the rims. I know its expensive but I only do my cars and 95% of the time I just use soap and water bc they are not too bad.

Nice plastic plate tip.

I have a few T-shirts and shorts with brake dust spots from other brushes and the small BBS-style slots in my rims.

My guess is you have a BMW or an Audi. I had a BMW M3 and my brother drives and Audi, worst dustng pads I have epxerienced. I used the P21S on both and it worked like a charm. I actually use the gel and it did a great job. I also never let my wheels get totally baked on for year and years. Pro detailers deal with his more than me. I an a hobby detailer for my own vehicles. I just purchased a set of Wheel Woolies 9set of 3 sizes) Hopeing they will do a better job in the barrels and honeycome grill.

I have not tried the Sonax but for me the P21S does everything I need and does not smell bad at all.

Thanks for the tip!

P21s just fails completely for me as a product... I don't know how anyone can let it soak for 2 hours and not have it dry on the wheel... happened to me twice... Sonax works with a 5 min dwell almost as good as wheel brightener and it now my go to on anything but horrible factory rims that have never been washed.

What do you do for rims that require hours of scrubbing and spraying with cleaner and brushes? Anything expensive will put you in the poor house with alot of repeated applications on really neglected rims...

Thanks for help

Chris

I'm a hobbiest that likes to keep my BMWs clean. Let us know how you like the Wheel Woolies. I looked at the sheepskin brushes and went with the Daytona VIP special after so many good comments. Hopefully, I made the right choice.

I have a few wheel cleaners around, but the Sonax cleaner looks pretty cool. Never tried P21S despite the good words.

I've been using a dedicated rim sealant and it really helps with my bimmer wheels, although not perfect. Don't know if there is a better option, but I can now clean up the rims pretty quickly instead of hours.

Since I started using the rim sealant, I normally prespray the rims and tires with a diluted (clay lube) ONR solution and brush with diluted car wash. Wheels come out bright and shiny for the most part, and I don't always need a wheel cleaner or need to clean and reseal the rims often.

FYI: The wheel sealant I'm using seems to wash off when using a wheel cleaner.

Hey Chris
The professional guys may have better ideas but I've used the following over the years

1) Wash to remove surface dirt (I want to try the Sonax wheel cleaner)
2) Tar spots - OTC bug and tar remover (megs) (before clay or polish)
a) I want to dissolve the tar before using clay and often helps
b) I now check my lower panels for tar before claying paint to save time! You know those little black spots that don't want to come off with clay. Dab, wait a second, wipe and gone.
3) Baked on brake dust - Clay and paint cleaner or glaze (OG, 4 star, etc) to remove grime and clean CC rims
a) if clay doesn't remove it quickly, I go right to a paint cleaner or polish to soften or remove
4) Really tough stuff - a polish, swirl remover or compound (Opt, Megs UC).
5) Finish with a rim sealant.

I have been using P21S wheel cleaner (I've used the gel and the liquid, and have a slight preference for the gel) for nearly 13 years now.

Wow! I hadn't realized how long I've been using it until I just added it up. It is one of the few detailing products that I have "settled on", without feeling any need whatsoever to try something else. Believe me, that speaks volumes to the quality of this product! :props:

Whats the difference between this and the EZ mini?
The EZ brushes are known to break at the handle. The Daytonas dont seem to do same. I have had mine for about a year. No problems. Got my mini today it it looks to be same quality as my full size Daytona.

I used my Daytona Speed brushes again today. Still don't like 'em.

The splatter is ridiculous. No matter how careful I am, I still get some splatter. Not good for someone who wears glasses.

Thanks for the response. I never thought about claying and using paint cleaners/glazes... I am guess in can pull out the PB's White diamond and try it out on the next one. I've tried the Sonax and I am going to replace the P21s in my arsenal with it as I just used the last of P21 and the sonax is full ;). I like it better based of it working faster then P21. The ONR solution for taking care of my own rims was a great idea... If I can ever get the black spots off of them. Something is really bonded to them. its not tar... no wheel cleaner touches it... its getting worse... so I will try the claying and using paint cleaner. Think I'll go with QD str ONR though. Duragloss Bug/tar remover has now replaced tarminator... bug b gone... and PB's bug remover for me. I am becoming overly impressed with DG's line up. Gotta trymore of their rather reasonably priced products.

I removed my wheels this week and used P21s, Sonax, megs WB, and ARO on 4 different wheel barrels... I allowed the full 2 hour soak in the garage for P21s... 5 mins for Sonax... 30 sec for WB and 1 min for ARO... not much improvement with any of them... but after removing the wheels and feeling the barrel I think the previous owner has destroyed the clear coating and the metal finish is actually eatten up from whatever wheel cleaners have been used... they are very rough look dirty... feel oxidized or pitted... they are factory 04 tacoma rims...

That said Sonax cleaned up factory lexus rims neglected x 2 years with no problem at all with 3 - 4 min dwell time. Speed master + sonax for the barrels worked like a charm... minimal aggitation and the grime was gone... minus a few tar spots I had to clean up later

:iagree: The only thing I've found that works is leaving the Audi in the garage!

The EZ brushes are known to break at the handle. The Daytonas dont seem to do same. I have had mine for about a year. No problems. Got my mini today it it looks to be same quality as my full size Daytona.

Because (see above from JSFM35x), my speed brush got a good workout every weekend for a little over a year. Last weekend, it had enough:

That Stinks, not sure what the warranty is? Perhaps you can send it back so that they can look it over to make it better in the future. If mine breaks, I will buy another because it safes me alot of knuckle busting. I also ordered these things called wheel woolies and I will write a review and get back to you when they arrive. They were highly reccommended and I decided to take a shot.

Goos luck.

Jeff

As much as I detail vehicles if I can get over a year i'll be happy. I also recently ordered the wheel woolie and can't wait to try it out as I read great things about it.

Didn't want to start a new thread on this....but Autogeek rep, can you clear something up for me? From what I had understood, the Daytona line was commissioned by AG through EZ Products taking into account that the original EZ brushes were designed for motorcycle use, and not automotive which explains somewhat for how easy they break. I was told that Daytonas were exclusive to AG and definitely different from EZ Detail brushes based on this strengthening for the riggors of automotive use.

However, this was posted by EZ products when asked what the difference was between Daytona and EZ.

"Yes, they are the same except the color. They are both made with the same high end materials.

We are planning on making a "car" label. When it is available we will let you know.

Thank you,

Is the product the same except for the color? I have the Daytona and have had several EZ Detailing brushes in the past that have broken and my Daytona so far has held up, but I'm just hearing conflicting answers from distributor and manufacturer....

I would call Customer Service. Penny will do everything she can for us Geeks, She is wonderful to deal with!

Wow, that stuff sounds powerful! This is also why I wear protective glasses when using the wheel brush, though the DP wheel cleaner I am using is not nearly as powerful.
