What happened to Autopia forums?

Because this forum is run by a vendor, and there are some folks who don't want to be seen as supporting the vendor for whatever reason. I know Autopia was a vendor too, at least at one time, but it was a forum long before that.

Personally, I'd rather just go wherever the best information resources are. Hence why I visit this site. Im the MAN
What site is not run by a vendor? It takes $$$$$$$$$$$ to make things work right?

As stated previously, Autopia operated for years without being a vendor.

Exactly. Plus there's a big difference between a site being directly run by a vendor and a site being funded by a number of sponsors with a much less equitable interest in how the forum is run as a whole -- which is the way a lot of forums operate.

Exactly.

For example, Autogeek is a sponsor at DetailCity, along with several other vendors.

Well, it depends on whether you consider the owner's business interests in companies/products he owned (detailing specific) while running the place.

What are you talking about?

i just went on the site its still messed up.and the page froze. i give up with them

Maybe he's talking about the old eBook DavidB had written way back in 2000-01...

Or that he promoted a different specific vendor's in-house products in the eBook (I won't mention their name since they're still in business and a key competitor of AG, but anyone who was around then should know who I'm referring to)

messes like that take time even though it should of been dealt with already. some things are out of ones control sometimes, and all you can do is hope for the best and just wait it out. apparently you can't, so just move on...

Ah yes, I do remember that now.

I was there earlier today, and all seems good. They still have stuff to fix (some links etc) but the threat is gone. No more warnings from Firefox or Google.

Ha, I didn't know that (joined in 2004). No wonder there seemed to be so much bad blood between David and what was that guy's name, Terry?

Ah yes, I do remember that now.

Heck at one time DavidB and DavidO offered special "encoded" versions of that eBook that allowed members who passed it out to their friends to receive referral credit/money toward goods at the Autopia store (circa 2004). I don't think I have that eBook around anymore.

I joined in 2004 as well, but that ebook thing was still around.

I think I was afraid to download that thing, originally. When I did look at the online version, it had KAIO/SG/P21S, and I thought those "S" products in it, not the other Florida stuff.

S products. *ponders*

I know DavidB's store sold Sonax, which AG now sells anyway. Don't be afraid to mention it ;)

If you mean the other S product devloped by DavidB and DavidO, then yeah.. mehhhhh.

Hmm... I guess I'd forgotten about that. Was that around the same time they came out with that horrible "synthetic clay" product that hardly anyone gave positive reviews to?
