Review: Poorboy’s World Trim Restorer

You're definetly correct. For severely faded bumpers like this the Ultima isn't the right product. I used it to test the durability of the PB-TR next to it. When the others wear off the Ultima will still be there.

On trim that is not in terrible condition the Ultima would certainly be the product of choice for me.

The PB is a restorer
The Ultima is a sealant and protectant
The 303 falls in between

Edit:

That's funny Tad, I wrote the above response efore I saw yours.... I completely agree with you

Hate to be a smarty pants Corey, but are you sure the Ultima is there now :D

J/k, I know what you mean...

None of my vehicles have bumpers or other trim that would need this kind of products, but I'm going to buy some anyway, as I know I will detail a car for someone who will need this. In fact, I have a niece who has a Mini Cooper that has the plastic over the wheels that could use a product like this!

will this magical elixir work on bumper covers that are not black????

it's sort of a pinkish color...i posted a pix in the ext gallery,,,,,keyword bumper restoration i think

I have been a long time user of PB TR but was worried about the durability of in on cars that I only get to do one or twice a year details so I have tried topping it with Opti-seal - a decent WOWA sealant and did not like the results initally i lost alot of the darkening effect.

So I bought 303 AP - I honestly can say on my 2004 tacoma black wheel flares and front bumper trim that this stuff was horribly streaky. Perhaps its my application process but I could not even it out with repeated light applications and buffing. I ended up using Megs Hyper dressing 3:1 3-4 applications to rid myself of the streaking.

My request of Cee Dog is to try topping the PB TR in one area after buffing it dry with the Ultima trim protectant to see what effect it may have on durability of the TR results and looks. Opti-OS was not up to this task.

Soon come! I was actually planning on doing exactly this on my wifes car.

26 DAY UPDATE

After 26 days the Ultima T&TG is now the darkest of the 3 products.

Looking good Corey!!! I love the way UTTG looks on my trim. IMO it makes the plastic look like its not plastic.

PB TR still looks like the winner to me for faded trim, just doesnt last as long as the UTTG.

Nice to know, thank for taking the time to do this..

Has anyone tried Four Star Tire Protection Gel on plastic surfaces?

1 MONTH UPDATE

Well, it looks like 2 rainy days ended the need to check for durability from here on out. Rain is the achilles heel of PB-TR. Initially I thought it was the combination of time since application and the rain that did what you see in the pictures. However after looking at the second test that is only a couple weeks old I can say the rain is no friend of PB Trim Restorer. The 303AP (on this surface) wasn't too happy with the rain either. The UTTGP didn't flinch.

Big difference over time. Thanks for the update.

Whew...bit of a relief. I had ordered UTTGP just before this threaded. At that the time I thought Damn, just wasted quite a bit of money. I've been pretty impressed with it, but looked forward to seeing the results here. Looks like it all worked out. The UTTGP even worked ok on the weird black trim between the door windows on my mother's PT Cruiser which was all destroyed and discolored. It can't fix that, but definitely makes it look better !! Good product, great review, thanks for the effort !!

So could you use PBTR to restore it, then top with UTTGP to protect and keep the restored look?
