07/08 C6 Z06 has owned me

But reality is I'm pretty disappointed thus far, I just rolled it outside into the daylight. :( Boo. Still swirled up. especially the rear tops of the fenders. This is my buddies car, and I'm certain he'll be very appreciative of the work I've done but I was really hoping to turn out something stellar. But thats part of the deal. Learning what you can and cannot do. When the car showed up it didn't bead water and was uber scratched. Now it beads like a mad man and has "less" scratches. 50% correction. The white flag is coming shortly...

Doing a black vette is very time consuming. I own one myself but here is one of many that I have turned around, just remember it takes time. Trust me your patients will be rewarded.

I hear that! Truth is the car was not well taken care of. Ungaraged, not cleaned regularly, etc. This is actually the second time I've washed it. You should have seen it the first time it showed up. More like a daily driver civic than a Vette. Either way, I'll defer my buddy to a local pro if he isn't happy with the final outcome. I have a few more hours of my day job to finish up and then I'll knock the car out. More pics tonight.

Very professional work as usual, Dana. Spectacular saves on both the C5 and C6 z06's!

Thanks Mark, I was trying to get my point across that it is going to take some time to get the vette he is working on to where he wants it and it is possible that it will get there. He and his friend just need some patients.

You mean like this then. This is an 03 Z06. The hood alone took over 5 hours.

From everything that I've read, it seems that the Corvettes have one of the hardest clear coats in existence. Did you use a rotary on that hood? What polish or compound?

Dana ONLY uses a rotary from start to finish, and if I had to guess, he used a wool pad and M105 for compounding. Not positive, though...

Not all the time Mark. On this vehicle I did use a rotary. Rob I did a write up on these cars in the show and shine and I mention what I used to bring the paint back to where it belongs.
