Opinions on which Carnauba Wax

I have had the sweating issue with SN. For me it occurred on the hood and front fender tops after the car was driven and the engine heat caused the oils/solvents to migrate to the surface and haze. It was easily removed with a wipe of chilled distilled water, but reappeared for a day or two and then stopped.

I have tried letting it dry for 5 minutes and 30 minutes before buffing and I still got the issue. One thing that helps some, is to wait about an hour after the original buff and lightly buff again with chilled distilled water.

I agree, try a sample pot of SN and Fuzion...Hard Candy is also nice (and does not sweat, IME). The sample pots are the way to go.

Great explanations of sweating thanks.
I have used Griots Carnauba, P21S, Fuzion, and of course many over the counters. I stopped using Griots and P21S because of sweating. Fuzion has been good to me so far. Maybe if I change my approach I could get good results from less expensive wax? Dodo Skull Candy on the way. Maybe the Hybrids are less susceptible?

I haven't seen the sweating issue when I've used SN. Apply a very thin coat, wait, buff off, no issues at all.

SN is on version 2, maybe they corrected the issue?

Aerocleanse- Yes, maybe SN V2 is better as far as not sweating. I know some like you who have not seen the issue? To me it's a patchy haze, not oily holograms as was discussed.

Thanks for everyones help. I think I'll try some samples of SN and maybe Fusion. Can SN or Fusion go on top of a sealant like DP Poli-coat or Wolfgang?

I've used WG sealant, topped with Fuzion alot...very nice.

I've really never seen a carnauba that could not be used on top of a sealant....although I'm never sure about bonding/durability. Try it on the hood or a test area and see what you think.

yes indeed ... great toppers.

Does the sweating not bother you after paying that price? Or do you not see this issue in your area? I haven't used it yet myself but have had a couple people who's opinions I respect tell me this is the case. I'll be putting some on for myself soon.

Is sweating when little round dull spots appear on the car the next day? I have had that problem using Supernatural. The spots are a quarter inch in diameter. I really like the shine, and the durability seems to be excellent, but those spots have prevented me from using it on cars for show, as I fear them appearing later, when it is too late to fix them. It seems like the only way to fix them is strip off the wax or use more wax. I have had this problem on a car outside with a car cover in the Fall, in California.

I highly suggest that you go with Fuzion. It is great all across the board.

Find me a thread where there are many people talking about how to use Fuzion "right" in order to get around some issue with the wax, like sweating... None? Oh... Weird...

:D

SSII definately a good choice too. And the price is right!

I can post thread from other forums with people talking about swissvax and other high end waxes sweating. Are you saying those are crap too!!!! It happens with waxes with a high amount of carnuba. Fuzion is a hybrid, so carnuba content is not too high. Is that bad?? People also experience sweating with 845. I mean "common man"!:dblthumb2:

Whoa Lou, That's not what I said at all. I didn't say ANYTHING about ANY WAX being CRAP...

I was just saying that Fuzion is sooo nice :D, and many people have agreed that it is both: 1- Incredibly user friendly, and 2- An excellent looking wax. There are not loads of threads discussing difficulties, problems, "special needs/techniques" or things of that nature concerning Fuzion.

Also, I didn't fully realize it until now but I'm definitely into the "hybrid" wax's. Fuzion, Autoglym HD and DP Max Wax are my favorite's for sure. Those 3 probably make up ~90% of the LSP recommendations I've ever given... All Hybrid Paste Wax. :dunno:

Just my opinion :dblthumb2:

All good!! I wasn't taking it seriously. I was just saying you can't compare a high carnuba content wax to a hybrid wax/sealant. A lot of high end waxes sweat a little.

You've listed some great products but don't limit yourself, have you ever considered trying Collinite 845?

Collinite Liquid Insulator Wax, for example, is one of the finest liquid carnauba waxes you can buy. It has the shine and wetness of carnauba but its longevity is more like a paint sealant. You can expect up to 5 months of protection and incredible water-beading, even on non-garaged vehicles.

I have to say it's probably the best wax for the dollar that I've ever used...

I'm with BobbyG on this. For the price and what you get from it you can't beat it. I have a black Avalanche and I topped Menz Power Lock Sealant with the Collinite for my winter prep. I'd highly suggest putting it on your shopping list, it's not expensive and you wont' be disappointed.
