By far the GT-R is the best bang for your buck supercar IMO. It goes around tracks as fast as most of the ferraris and lambos but costs less than half the price to buy and to maintain.

if the japanese were doing it (high end sports cars ala ferrari, lambo, etc) as long and as dedicated as them, who knows where they would be now, i mean look at this thing. technology wise (not just cars), the japanese are just so far ahead in many aspects (electronics, etc)...

Still prefer the ZR-1.
It costs almost $30,000 more though! For less than the $30,000 difference between the two cars, I could put a corvette engine into my miata and upgrade the drivetrain and suspension to support the extra horsepower and it would SMOKE a corvette.

There is no comparison between a stock ZR-1 and a stock GT-R.

You must add $45k in mods as they did to the above car to get it to compare to ZR-1 performance. Now you're on equal footing and equal price, actually a bit more, because you can actually buy a ZR-1 for less than sticker.

For most peoples ZR-1 is still a Corvette nothing special, but GT-R is different case if it's not beat the ZR-1 in speed it's beat the ZR-1 in everything else :)

That car is sick. I saw it blow away the Porsche 997 in Battle of the Super Cars.

I havent seen of these things yet in person that would justify it as anything close to a "super car". In fact i've watched multiple "head to head" shows that completely trash on this car as a "super car." Is it nice? Heck yes....But there is a reason "super cars" have the price tags they carry.....So comparing this car to the ZR-1 IS fair...Nissan did that to themselves by labeling it the way they did.

Very nice car, but DEF. no super car.

I renig on my previous post. Didnt see the Alpha-9 tag (never seen one in person) Although dont like the selling point of "accelerates faster than a veyron.".......That the furthest reason from why the Veyron was built....There are videos of all kinds of cars "accelerating" faster.....doesnt mean it lasts long.

I love the way it looks , i just havent been impressed since their release. Maybe the Alpha-9 will change my mind.

I have to put my 2 cents in on this one and defend the GT-R a bit because I own one. First thing you need to do is define what is a supercar? If you want to define a supercar as a Ferrari or Lamborghini with a price tag over 200k, then i guess you could say that a GT-R is not a supercar. However, if you want to define a supercar as a car that can lap the Nurburgring faster than a Carrera GT, Maserati MC12, and Ferrari Enzo....then yes it is a Supercar. I know it doesn't have the looks or interior of a Ferrari or Lamborghini but the performance is there for sure.

Here is a link of Nurburgring times:

One of the many reviews. That I've read on the comparisons.

And as far the the ZR1 being SO much more money ......it's only 111k brand new

Really not the difference most claim....

Like i said....the car is great...but far too many excuses as to why it "doesnt match up to other supercars" like the price being so much lower...Bah. It goes fast around a track, but there is A LOT more to performance than just that, lol. Im sure there are some Yugo's that can run a pretty quick at Nurburgring as well.

Im not hating on the car, I just hate the double standard. An American car comes out not performing like it was supposed to and people are ALL OVER IT.......but the GT-R comes and all i've heard is excuses.....even as far as to say "well the motors are hand made so they're all going to perform differently.".......*slap* so I guess that goes for EVERY car Z06 and above eh? There should be SOME kind of continuity there, or just buy a Honda.

Not dissing your car Max....I've actually been frustrated over this topic for a while, lol. Dont take it personally, it's a beautiful car.

another vid, with the GT-R not too far behind the LFA...

Best bang for the buck? IMO, no. It may be fast in a straight line using AWD and turbo's, but handling is its weakness. Not the amount of g's it can pull (because I know it can pull a bunch), but feel and confidence inspiring. Subjective observations, but nevertheless relevant. My info is coming from the reviews I've read since I've never actually driven one, much less on a track to really test its true nature.

P.S. Oh and it's not a good looking car. IMO of course.

Bang for your buck definitely yes. Performance wise this car is a monster. It's not nicknamed Godzilla for nothing. I've watched all sorts of videos (professional and amateur) as well as read numerous articles and reviews. This cars handling is supposed to be superb. The AWD is one of the best around. The main reason it does so well on the track is because of its handling. Sure you can have 700hp or whatever it may be.. but if you can't get it to the ground its wasted energy and money.

Also, i've seen 3 of these driving around the Twin Cities. 1 red, 1 black pearl, and 1 graphite.. All 3 look incredible.

A. Its Motor Trend (I don't take them seriously)
B. That GTR is well modded. Bigger turbos, weight reduction reworked cams, yadda yadda.

That being said I'm sure its faster then the ZR1 and a GT2 etc. But its a silly comparison. Once you mod a car it makes no sense to compare it to stock rival. Put a big enough turbo on a civic and it will be in Corvette territory to.

They should compare it to the Hennessey ZR1.

Depends on what the driver wants. I think the Evo X is the best bang for the buck at its price range. The GT-R is def the cheapest "supercar"
