Anyone use Aquapel on other car windows beside the windshield? and did it help with clearing/sheeting water for more glass clarity? any comments welcomed.

I like it on back and front windows ... I still use Stoners Invisible Glass w/ Rain additive for side windows.

Thanks for the replies fellas, I think I'll do the rear glass and go from there..

I used Aquapel on mine today and made one mistake. I tried to be cheap and strech it out to do the rear window too. Well if you read the directions it says wipe it off as soon as you cover the window. I didn't because it took extra time trying to do the back window etc. Well I spent much more time buffing the haze that was left due to my stupidity...lol How do you guys like the Stoners? I was looking at doing the same type of thing due to the cost of aquapel. Thanks, Dave

Just out of curiousity. How much are you paying for Aquapel?

The Autogeek store has them at a sale price of $7.99 per each applicator and a price break for 6 at $35.

I tried using aquapel today and it just hazed up on the glass. It was almost impossible to get off, I had to use glass cleaner to eventually get it all off. I used it just as directed. Maybe it did this because I had left it in my car, including in winter months, for over a year....idk

I did my truck yesterday.

It applies easily but wiping off is more difficult and takes longer than lets say if you were cleaning your glass.

I used 3 sets of paper towels.

  1. Remove the majority of product
  2. Final removal of product leaving a slight haze
  3. Buffing and streak removal
When I looked at the towels from step one I was surprised to see how much product was removed and it was allot. The towels I used were blue so it was evident by a darkening of the towel just how much had come off.

With Aquapel I never have any issues with application or removal.

1. Wash car as normal
2. (optional but recommended) Use DP Glass Restorer to clean
(you can switch these two steps as desired as wash will remove any dust)

3. Shake well, crack, and apply immediately outside of direct sunlight
4. Ask wife to use papertowel and rub around any excess (looks like silicone on glass until hazes)
5. Move around quickly and apply to as many windows as possible till dries (do not keep trying to apply once tube dried) -- wife follows to remove/spread excess
6. Buff off with soft towel

I think my problem was the wait. You did it right having someone go right behind you to buff it. I learned the hard way if it sits too long it is a real pain in the butt to buff out. I guess that’s why the instructions say wipe it off immediately...lol

Using this process, to how many windows can you apply the Aquapel?

Any particular type or brand of paper towel?

What type of soft towel for buffing? Will this towel become permanently contaminated?

What does the DP Glass Restorer do and is there a substitute if one doesn't have any?

I usually can get both sides of the front and rear with one applicator. I use a standard paper towel, likely Bounty works just fine. I then use a MF for final buff off (shorter nap) and never had any traces in towel that I noted. DP Glass Restorer is a light glass polish and really cleans glass removing any old product and other contaminents.

Wife is optional ... but any neighbor or friend will do. Idea is to remove any excess while still wet and to spread thoroughly around all glass if you missed a spot. I apply twice annually.
