Ultimate Test! SONAX Full Effect Wheel Cleaner

I was wondering who there needs a few lessons on maintaining their vehicle...

I have to say I am impressed with SONAX ability to clean those wheels. There are quite a few that I've tried and it would be interesting to see a comparative test of SONAX vs. Meguiar's Wheel Brightener vs. DP Wheel Cleaner vs. Griots Garage Wheel Cleaner.

Yancy does have 3 other wheels that need cleaning and this would be a great opportunity for such a test and Yancy would appreciate seeing his wheels again!

You are very correct about that, which one do you want to see next... Nick has a lot of products he still hasn't tried so I need to get him on the fast course!

Please don't forget P21S gel and standard soap and water!

Keep 'em coming! :buffing:

Nick, how long did it take to clean that one wheel?

I ask because yesterday I washed a car+windows it took 30mins with ONR. I did one wheel and that took 15mins. It was 5 spoke chrome that had been waxed 3months ago, but hadn't had a good wash in a month or so. We don't have snow, just some rain. I used a degreaser1:10, apc, ipa, the daytona wheel brush, a long handle soft brush, apc the tire. Then used a sealant on the chrome. And megs endurnce tire gel. I also did the wheel well too. I really should of taken the wheel off the car and clayed it. Still 15mins and all four wheels, thats just forever. I like to do a good cleaning and rewaxing every month or so, it just takes so long to clean wheels.

The wheels and tires look nice.

Did you clean the wheelwells?

It took us about 10 minutes to clean that one wheel. But you have to keep in mind, the wheels on that car haven't seen any type of cleaning in well over a year.

Nope, just the wheels and tires! :p

I couldn't believe that the wheel hasn't been cleaned in a year. That doesn't look too bad actually. I think BMW wheels get that much brake dust in like a month LOL!

Before I made the switch to ceramic pads, the wheels on my Honda looked like that after 50 miles. But they were easy to clean because I never left them like that for more than 4 or 5 days, tops.

Wow that's pretty impressive. I'll have to get some on my next order. Anyone know how long the Sonax sale is going for?

What kind of Honda? Mine usually don't look too bad, even after a couple of weeks (but I rarely let them go that long without a wash :D).

2001 Accord, but for a while there I was getting the cheapo semi-metallic pads from my local parts store. The car came from the factory with ceramic pads but I never wanted to shell out the cash for them. A few months ago I finally got sick and tired of having a spotless car with filthy rims every day so I made the switch. Well worth it! :dblthumb2:

Not sure how long I would imagine at least thru the weekend.

What Meghan said but either way, when something as big as Sonax is on sale like this, I always tell my customers to jump on it as soon as they can. You all know how often we run specials for you guys so if you see something you like, take advantage of it asap!!:xyxthumbs:

Personally, the SONAX Premium Class Carnauba Wax is a steal. If I was someone on the fence about this wax, now would be the time to give it a shot. I know it won't disappoint.

I have the Sonax Wheel cleaner and the stuff does work really well. Only thing I hate about it is the smell. It's awful!

Its been reformulated with the latest batch that shipped to now smell like lemons. You will know if you got that bottle as it states in on the front ("now with lemon scent")

Meghan, have you guys flushed your old inventory and have the lemon scented ones now?

Wheels look good!

How did you get so much foaming action with Sonax? I tried it with the daytona and got very little foaming action.

10mins is pretty good. I also use the daytona speed brush and its a great brush, but it the bristles aren't very stiff so they don't agitate brake dust very well. This means more scrubbing and rinsing and it seems to take longer. I want to try a small wheel brush with stiffer bristles but ones that won't scratch up the wheel. There are a few on autogeek, but I dunno how soft or how hard the bristles are. Maybe a 7" or a 10" brush.

Any recommendations?

Generally I will add a small amount of any car soap in my rinse bucket. The lubricating soap will help get any grime off of the daytona after every pass and will add some foaming action.

In this case, Nick used the Griot's wash

Nick, that's a very sexy arm in the pictures. Your arm or did you talk Meghan into cleaning the wheels for you?

And it is with this post that I make my jump into Senior Member status...
You need to bring up your standards AG. Woohooo!!!

It's good to hear Sonax changed the scent.
Maybe I can send back my old bottle (woman perm scent :() tfrom AG,for the new improved lemon scent:).
The old scent has to be the foulest smelling detailing product I own.
So if AG purged the old smelling Sonax wheel cleaner inventory and now carries the new "Lemon" scent,I'm thinking it will be a better seller.
