Review: 1Z Einszett Vinyl Rubber Care and Protectant Tiefenpfleger

1 WEEK UPDATE

We had some pretty wicked rain here for about a day earlier this week. Today I took some pictures and the durability results are in. On the Bumpers and window seals the 1Z has begun to fail while the Duragloss and Ultima have both held up fine.

On the window seals the 1Z has faded compared to the DG 531. Note this is a zoomed in macro picture (just a couple inches away (Very unflattering) and from any normal viewing distance even 12 inches it looks a lot better (no splotchiness)

On the tires the 1Z was actually rather fearless. The test vehicle was driven in the storms and yet the 1Z held up pretty well. I didn't think it had faded at all until I looked at the original pictures again. It has faded some but it also looks like the protectant has soaked into the tire and should last awhile. I'm looking forward to the following durability reports on the tires. I'm not sure we need anymore on the bumpers but if you guys request them I will post them.

A durability test between DG531 and UTTG may be interesting.
 
It's interesting 531 is doing so well considering it's advertised as a vinyl and rubber protectant, not plastic.

Mark, you need to try DG 531. IMO you will love it.
 
Thanks Jimbo. I'm going to pick it up at carquest tomorrow. I'm hoping it will work as my "all" exterior trim protectant.

Looks like I need to try the 531, at 1/3 the price of UTGP it seems like that is next in line.
 
I applied UTTG to faded plastic trim yesterday, looks pretty good. I picked up DG 531 this morning to compare. I applied it to the same plastic trim as UTTG, and DG 531 gave a much darker look and not glossy or greasy! :dblthumb2: To be fair, I need to let DG 531 dry as long as UTTG. I'm surprised how much better the DG 531 looks than UTTG. If durability holds up to UTTG, :nomore: UTTG! I'll try to post pics when I get a chance.

Thanks for sharing your results Mark! I have also winessed that DG 531 is darker than UTTG. However UTTG seems to be less glossy on a lot of materials than does DG 531. I'm looking forward to durability findings on the DG 531 applied to rear bumper after 3 months.

Well, I have a slight correction. DG 531 is not *much* darker than UTTG, but it's noticeably darker. I don't find it glossier on this piece of trin, but will experiment with others. On a side note, I applied Meg's UP spray next to UTTG yesterday, and initially UP was very dark and glossy(glossier than UTTG and 531), but overnight it faded to almost like it was never there.
 
The 1Z looks to be some pretty good stuff and I may have to try some down the line. I think I'm more impressed with the inability to remove the UTTG. It's what I am currently using on my trim and had no idea that it is that tuff to remove. Wooooow! Makes me feel really good about the protection it's providing. The 1Z looks to be a better choice on more faded trim but for my well maintained trim, I think I'm sticking with UTTG. Great review.:props:

I agree that was incredible! When I did my last update showing the 1Z fading I was looking at that bumper and the old layer of UTTG which I had applied 1Z over was still there and re-appearing as the IZ faded. I'll take a picture of it next update.
 
Corey, yes the UP faded that quick!
Also, DG 531 did no better on my rubber window seals than UTTG.

Do you feel that UTTG applies a bit smoother and less streaky than DG 531 on plastic trim?

Yes, the UTTG applies smoother on plastic trim in my experience. Love it :xyxthumbs:

I have not tried it. If it doesn't last nearly as long as UTTG on exterior trim, I won't want to use if for that.

That's fine. The DIA should not fade overnight like the Megs that you mentioned. I used their plastic polish to clean and bring the plastic back to black and used ERV as the exterior dressing for a lot of years.

It just seemed to me that UTTG was holding up better in the recent rains on my car and I was pretty impressed wth UTTG. However, I noticed from Corey's experiments that UTTG doesn't necessarily get the plastic tirm as dark as other options. I actually have UTTG over OC plastic polish after taking MS to strip everything off. I should not have used MS!

The DIA should give you an idea of what ERV might look like on trim since you liked it on the interior.
