Feedback on my Business name please.

First off I would like to say that after reading the Branding your name/business article I have kind of reconsidered my business name:

Orginally I wanted to go with Rocky Mountain Auto Detailing which would be shortened to ROMOautodetailing.com however given the fact that there is a certain QB in the NFL with the name ROMO I started to wonder if I might be inadvertently running afoul of NFL trademark violations.

So then I thought about using my real name which is Michael J. Cheaney, however people have a hard enough time pronouncing my name correctly, never mind the trouble the would have trying to key it in as a website address...

What do you guys think? And if anyone has any other business name suggestions I am open to other options!!!
 
How about Rocky Mountain Detailing..( RMD) for short! Good luck with your search!
 
I like Rocky Mountain Detail as it's focused on the geographical area you cater to.

rockydetail.com is available. It's easy to spell, easy to remember.

RMADetail.com is also available. Rocky Mountain Auto Detail


Just some suggestion... it can be tricky getting just the right name that's meets all the criteria listed here and of course your own personal prefernces...

Great info mike,,i named my detail business Total Care Detailing. already got the domain name just have to get a website built and go from there..I like the Big Sky Detailing name,,Big Sky definitely makes you think about that area.
 
Picking a name seems so trivial but it took me forever to find "the one". Like Mike says, branding is the first thing the customer will see or hear. I was actually walking in downtown Denver, many miles from home, when it hit me. I walked into a store called The Art of Shaving. My name was born...Art of Shine, "we restore your cars self esteem".

Now, if you do use Big Sky Detail, I will only expect a 10% per car name finder fee. :xyxthumbs:
 
I had a friend that changed his used bookstore name so he would be first in the phone book. He went from Windmill Books to AA Books and doubled his customers.
 
:idea: You could always go with Dr Detail...Every city has at least one of these

I like all the suggestions folks keep em coming please!!

Ideally I would like to use my own name, because every website I have ever belonged to I have always used my name....It goes along with my deep seated belief that if your going to have an opinion on blogs or forums that you should OWN your beliefs and thoughts.....and what a better way to do that than by using your name...

That being said however if I were to go and purchase a domain with my name and the 50-60 ways it could be misspelled AND bought all the .org, .net .info .biz etc.....I could blow about 10 grand.......

I was thinking Rocky Mountain Auto Detailing because when I get up in the Morning I have a GREAT view of the Rocky Mountains....how uninspiring is that for a business name.....

I've been using my own name for the past 10 years successfully; I just call myself "C. Charles Hahn, Automotive Appearance Specialist" It has served me well.

The only drawback is that if I ever had to bring on any employees I feel like I'd have to pick a different business name. No matter how good the people I'd hire and train might turn out to be, I don't feel comfortable letting someone else's work affect the reputation tied to my name. Not a problem if you're always going to be working solo or always have the ability to check over every vehicle that goes out of your shop to ensure it meets with your personal standards.

Thats a good point, but to be perfectly honest I really don't know that I could get the business big enough to hire an employee or 10.....I mean Cut Bank is all of 3000 people, and the nearest city with a population of 40000 is Great Falls and thats 100 miles away, the spacing of the nearest cities to me are 25 miles away.....So in that regard I would be OK having my name tied directly to the business.

Plus I do intend to keep it a one man show if at all possible, because somedays I have a hard time working with myself. Why should I subject some one else to that kind of Misery?:props:
 
How about,
Mclovin Detailing, Stylin Detailing, Haha J/K
I named my business HotShot detailing, it's kind of catchy. I think something like The Art of Auto Detailing and Gallery walla!
