This past weekend i had the opportunity to do my first single stage paint correction. My co-worker whos Suzuki i did last week asked me to clean up his pickup. It's a 1995 Nissan Hardbody with 57k original miles.
Process:
APC 4:1 for all jambs
Wash with 2 bucket, Megs Deep Crystal Wash
Clayed with Megs white clay and QD
UC via orange pad, PC7424XP speed 5
M205 via black pad, PC7424XP speed 5
x2 NXT 2.0 via red pad, PC7424XP speed 3
I started with thoroughly going over all the jambs with APC and various brushes as well as the wheel wells.
After washing with Megs Deep Crystal Wash, i see the real condition of the paint:
Graphics were removed a few years ago:
I then clayed the entire truck using Megs white clay with QD as lube.
There were several stains and marks all over the paint:
I proceeded with a test spot using UC before stepping up to the 105. The UC seemed to be enough to remove the oxidation paired with an Orange pad.
Here are some 50/50 shots:
The UC cleaned up a good 90-95% of all the defects / oxidation / marks on the paint. I then followed up with Megs 205 on black finishing pad and topped with 2 coats of NXT 2.0 on red pad.
The chrome was pretty hazed so i took some chrome cleaner and a 4" black finishing pad and hit all the chrome and it cleaned up real nice.
Didnt get pics but the inside was vaccumed, dressed and all windows done.
There wasn't much sun out but here are the finished shots:
No More stain
Graphics remnance gone:
