Mothers Back to Black...worst product ever??

Forrest, that was very nice of you to step up like that. It's nice to see companies offer that kind of service. I for one wasn't aware that Back To Black contained cleaners. With that information I believe I am going to work with the product again to see if I can improve my experience with it. Thanks! :props:

Thanks Forrest. I like your products especially your Performance Drying Towel. It is the best drying towel I have EVER used. I dont have as much black trim as I used to, but I really appreciate how you stand behind your products.
 
Hi Kris! I have to agree with the UTTG!!! It is the best stuff I have ever used for trim! I have it on my truck thats outside in the snow, ice and salt! It is still looking great and beading water after an application about 2 and a half months ago. And it is the only product that I have used that doesn't run. If you have repeat customers they will love it and a little does go a super long way. I did a friends tonneau cover on a full size pick up and used maybe a quarter ounce at most. If u buy it and dont like I'll buy it off u!
 
What about Hyper-Dressing or All Season Dressing? You can buy them in bulk and dilute Hyper-Dressing to fir your needs.

Use a clean, dry towel/rag to buff away the excess. That evens the finish and can help prevent streaking if it gets wet soon.

BTW, it has cleaners in it. It's not just a wipe on product. Apply it with an old wash cloth and rub the surface. The cleaners in it will break the oxidation loose, helping to restore the original look. Then, that second coat will ensure good coverage and an even finish.

I agree here. For B2B to work correctly you need to apply a first coat, let it sit, then apply a second coat. After it dries you can buff off the excess.

Gotta say I'm impressed with the CS from Mothers! Way to go!

So in reality it might not be the worst product ever as your title says, just a product that you don't have the time/ability to use correctly. Not trying to be a jerk but titling a thread" worst product ever" and then finding out you just aren't using it correctly is a little...misleading to say the least.

I don't currently use B2B but I have in the past and I got good results with it and it was very convenient since it was available OTC.

Well, if you noticed...the thread title was in question form. Hinting at the fact that I'm possibly using it wrong! So, I didn't flat out say...it's the worst product ever, period. I put it in question form assuming somebody would correct me. Also, if you go back and read the original posting...I did say, am I doing something wrong?...Just sayin. I don't think it was misleading at all. I think you just took it that way. IMO.

Besides, I've also tried second coatings of the stuff...with poor results even then. I put a second coating cause the first didn't stick, it dried out. Then, the second coating did as well. I'm gonna use up the bottles I bought. But, I don't think it should be necessary to have to put multiple coatings of a product such as trim dressing. Seems pointless to me. And to say I don't have the "ability" to apply trim dressing? Give me a break dude. That's just stupid. :cheers:

I didn't mean the ability as in you were incapable, i meant from a time stand point. I know you're not a moron and can apply trim dressing...lol

I still think referring to a product as the worst ever in any capacity is misleading, however now I have a better understanding of where you are coming from.

There are a lot of trim dressings that work better with multiple coatings. Not only to last longer, but also have a more uniform appearance.

It's expensive, but Adams in & out works awesome on cowls and other places that applying a dressing with an applicator can be a pain. just spray it on then buff it dry. has pretty good durability as well. You might want to look into it for a time saver.

Now we're talkin! Time saver...that's what I want! Sorry, I took it as you saying I don't have the time/ or ability, ha. I read that and was like WTF? I'll check that stuff out. I will definitely keep a strong, durable trim dressing in my shop for my higher up packages. But for the simple in and outs...I just want something I can apply once, and move on. I honestly don't have time to put multiple coatings on EVERY vehicle. But, if someone gets my gold or platinum package...then I wouldn't mind at all busting out the good stuff. :dblthumb2:

Any thoughts on Black Wow? That stuff seems to impress a bunch of people.

I don't have anything bad to say about black wow, but it's not my favorite. I really have started to like Adams VRT and In & Out spray for all my exterior dressing needs. You can adjust the gloss level on both by how much you buff them and one application should be enough for most trim.

alot of people also like the DG trim dressing (can't remember the number) and it is really cheap. Would probably work well for a high volume shop like yours.

Cool. That sounds good. I'll have to just try a few different ones out. I never thought I was very particular about my trim dressing till my favorite one got discontinued! All the sudden it's been a hassle. I'll probably try out the DG, and a couple of the higher end ones. :dblthumb2: Thanks!
