MF Pad System...Devil's Advocate Thread

LOL! I just noticed your picture in your avatar, assuming that's really you in the picture, it's no wonder why you'd prefer the Flex over the DA. My arms are about the size of your pinky, so you probably wouldn't have the same issues as me with the Flex LOL!
That's me. :dblthumb2:

Actually, as I just stated in my the previous post, if the Griot's DA was forced rotation, I'd rather use that. It's more compact and I like the way it feels in my hands.

You may find yourself liking the Griot's machine with these new pads as I have. In the past, I liked using the Flex machine. It's a good workhorse. But with your Griot's machine, and these pads, I think you'll be incredibly satisfied. I'm not too technical, so I don't know all the in's and out's of physics, but the Griot's machine seems to really like these pads, and likes them a lot! Same with the Meg's G110v2. But I prefer the Griot's machine due to it's smaller body. Just fits my hands better.

Nick

And for what it's worth, I have about 4 of the original G100's, 3 G110v2's, 2 Flex 3401's, 1 Groit's DA, 4 Makita rotary's, 2 Dewalt rotary's, and the original Flex rotary(can't remember the model #). And out of all of them, I really prefer the Griot's machine with these pads.

Looks like I've missed out on all the fun! Been kind of busy behind the scenes shooting "Features" for our upcoming TV show What's in the Garage?

Looks like the thread has more or less stayed on topic and focused on the discussion at hand...

Thank you everyone for maintaining a friendly discussion...

Hi Nick,

Thanks for chiming in after you were brought into the discussion... I've really enjoyed our friendship over years ever since we met when you attended a Meguiar's Detailing Class all the way back to November of 2006!

Open Class for Members of Meguiar's Online! - November 11th, 2006!

Nick and Jim from Dallas, Texas!

Man time flies when you're having fun. I always appreciate your total professional approach to both work and the forums.

Don't know if you remember but when I came down to the class at you shop back in 2009 I brought you a Griot's Garage DA Polisher to play with and said,

Something I noticed was as long as I held the pad flat the new Griot's Garage Random Orbital Polisher worked just like a rotary buffer. I couldn't stop it from rotating the pad and it was removing swirls and scratches like nobody's business and unlike a rotary buffer it was so easy to use.

You were pretty busy going to town on the classic Mercedes-Benz using the Flex 3403.

I described Nick as a machine, once this guy gets to working you can't stop him.

Here's some pictures to prove the point...

There's no one tool that can do it all and there's no one product or pad system that can and will do it all. That's why a seasoned Professional Detailer will draw from experience and do some testing and then match the best pad, product and tool to the task at hand to get professional results the first time.

Getting experience only comes from putting your time behind the buffer... getting knowledges comes from experience plus reading and interaction in threads like this one on the Autogeek Detailing Discussion Forum.

I have a Griots coming to my door today. I picked one up because everyone said the more traditional DA's worked better with this system. I also needed/wanted one for small pads because the flex doesnt fit in some spots. I Have an older Megs which still runs great but I wanted more power. I got a pretty good deal on it AND you can never have enough buffers!!

There were a lot of good points made while I was on a "vacation"...too many in fact to respond to. Anyway, I'm glad this thread remained civil, and has served as such a great advertisement for Mr. Stoops.

So what do you think Spicy, have you decided if your going to give these a try?

Lol, I don't think so.

Spicy, if I had the money I'd buy a kit and have it sent to you to see what you think. Maybe some of your doubts would be put at ease. Maybe you would find flaws in the system. Unfortunately, I have not.

I do thank you for starting this thread as it addressed many doubts anybody might have of this system, even if it did take somebody who knows more about the system than any of us to address them.

Otherwise, I do understand where you're coming from. I can't tell you why, but I will never buy anything Duragloss. Some of my reasoning will be saved for a future, nonexistent thread.

Now, let's get back to bashing products we've actually used. . .:bolt:

(For reference, that was actually a joke ;). Use what you like and give away the rest! Happy Buffing :buffing:)

That's cool. I imagine you already have all the tools you feel you'll ever need. Me, I'm still a rookie finding his way through the clubhouse. I like experimenting with tools, supplies and processes, all in an effort to find something I like sufficiently to use over and over and over. :props:

I encourage experimentation....with detailing products..lol. I'm by no means saying I'm an expert on this system, or even right. I was just trying to bring up some points that no one else was talking about. Apparently for some people though that just isn't acceptable.

Good luck with this system, and I hope you have great success with it! :props:
