What cleaning product are you using it with?

It also helps to moisten the area your going to treat/clean before using the eraser

ok. So i have another question. What would of been better for this job i just did a hot water extractor or a steamer? ive read a little bit about these but im wondering if they would do a better job than actually scrubbing the carpet with apc? also should i get a dedicated carpet shampoo or is the apc good enough?

Did you save that match? i think it was put there so you could just burn the damn thing lol.

Ok seriously...this is your gf's ride you said. For the gum..yes finger nails work good..not fun but sometimes you have to. Goo Be Gone works pretty good too. I dont know where exactly the gum is but if it just WONT come out...depending on how long the carpet nap is...and since this is your gfs car lol...you could always take a razor blade and CAREFULLY cut it out if its only a small section of the carpet that the gum is holding to.

As far as APC+ on vinyl/interior surfaces OTHER than carpet...i too have had streaking...usually had to go back over it again to get it even.

First ill say this..now i use regular APC...seems to sudds up better and leave less streaks. Secondly, my sis came up with a very good technique...after you wipe down the area with a wet cloth...and the spray it with APC or APC+ or WHATEVER cleaner you're using....make sure you're wearing a glove of some sort (dollar store latex works fine) take your hand and spread the product evenly over the area you are working...same idea as polishing paint...have even coverage of your product..and work a somewhat small area at a time...that way it doesnt dry on you while you're working it.

Also what we do is have yourself a 'rinse' bucket of water....so after you spray your APC+ or whatever..get your brush a little wet in the water (i will usually use a little dawn soap in mine) and then scrub the area...and if your brush gets dirty...have that rinse bucket handy and clean out your brush..so that way you arnt just scrubbing the dirt right back into what you're trying to clean.

Lastly...after you scrub...have a wet cloth (just wet with water) to wipe and residue off of the surface you're cleaning...and then take a 2nd cloth to wipe it dry. It makes a big difference trust me...cause as you've seen, you dont want to leave any product at all behind :).

For the part that has APC dried on the plastic...yeah that does suck and will take some work to get out. Definitely use enough water to try to saturate it as mike explained. If you can dilute it down then some of it should come up...just keep it wet and scrub lol. I bet you'll get most of it out. You may want to even try hitting it again with a little APC and then use lots of water still and see if any more comes up..and then when you're finished use your protectant on it....i bet it turns out ok. Thats why i said earlier to work a small area at a time :)...that way you know where you sprayed the product and you can be sure to work it and take it off before it dried.

For that purple dye...thats a rough spot...after all it is DYE lol. Try Folex from Home Depot as it might help some...i think its pretty good stuff. And for the nail polish maybe just use nail polish remover...but then clean the area with water afterwards and then treat it.

thanks will! im looking into getting a hot water extractor or the steam machine thing i dont know which one would be more effective. another problem i have is how do i get hot water into the car if i fill up a 5 gal with hot water by the time i get to use it it will cool down. what do you rec? also should i invest in some dedicated carpet cleaner or apc should be good enough with some folex and oxy clean?

I have the water scorching hot when i put it in the bucket..and it stays hot for a decent amount of time.

I use APC+ at 4:1 and then folex and oxyclean and have had really good results...but there are somethings that are just there....period...they wont come out. Even in the durango write up you saw...as much crap as we got out...that one floor mat had what i think was paint drippings on it...and it was just there...period. Can't do anything about that. Use your judgment on what is something you still want to work on..and what is just NOT coming out...sometimes you gotta know when to say 'when' :)

I'm inclined to agree. Actually some Medium Gray DupliColor Vinyl & Fabric dye would be a pretty close match on the carpet. Most auto parts stores should have it.

How permanet is that stuff and does it leave dark and light spots from overspraying certain areas?

It's pretty durable, but yes it can leave dark/light spots if you spray too thick in one spot. The key is to use light coats over the affected areas until coverage is achieved.

I've used quite a bit of the stuff with good success. :props:
