a bolt! thats what i am going to look for. i really dont like handles at all. i love the loop handles but not the stick handles. hey thanks for the bolt idea, ill sure look for oneAll the PCXPs are like that. The handle is actually what holds the head cover on the machine, or if you want to use it without the handle you can just install a hex-head bolt to hold it on.
The top piece will just slide back on your polisher, nothing's broken.
take the PC with you to your local hardware store and find two bolts that you can put on each side. take the handle with you so someone can look at the threading and length to find what will fit best...
Thread size is: 5/16-18 OR M8x1.25. About 3/4 length for either works.

I see someone has a thread checker :xyxthumbs:
Not really, when the 5/16 didn't feel right, grabed M8.
I found out the PC changed the thread design last year (2010, I think it was).

But my original PC is just the same![]()
I guess I've been lucky, I've worked for days and days on my vehicle with the 7424XP, without the handle attached, and haven't had a problem. But now I guess I'll go buy some bolts just in case. The last thing I need is for the thing to fall apart and maybe scratch the vehicle ...
:awman: you guys are braking my heart I'm working so hard to buy one with all the pads and the 2 size plates....:dunno: I don't know what to do now.
:iagree: get a Griots! i got this PCXP since to apply waxes and sealants and minor correction work since i do most of my work with my makita! but for some good correction the Griots will be alot better!Buy a Griots. If you ever have an issue in your lifetime it will be replaced free
