I recently purchased two grit guards and I wanted to put them to use to see if they work. I decided today would be carwashing day and I went out and bought two new buckets to plop the gg's into.

Did my normal routine and wow! Once I was done the water in the rinse bucket was a hazy light brown and as I poured it out I could see black specks. First time Ive ever done the two bucket method and I must say I was impressed. I scrubbed my wash mit on the gg in the wash bucket to loosen anything that may be on it. Seemed to work quite well.

Just thought Id share. :xyxthumbs:

The guy who patented the Grit Guard was at Detail Fest - I sadly didn't get to meet him though. I will never wash my car without my grit guards!

There is talk of the 3 bucket method. Same as the 2 bucket method with an additional bucket just for wheels.

For wheels? I just use a wheel brush. Never had issues with scratching.

Two buckets are the way to go, especially if you are washing a dirty car like mine!

yep, AG turned me on to the 2 bucket method. and i also use a third for cleaning the wheels. cant go wrong there!

wow! you guys are crazy only using 3 buckets! that would freak me out. I always use 6 buckets. two for body/paint. 1 for wheels. one for windows. and one for antenea and one for jams. this is the best way to clean a car.. no cross contamination in the house...

don't mind me. just being a jerk!! no offense intended. sometimes i think we get carried away is all.:dblthumb2:

What's happening My Man? I too use the two bucket wash method with a third for tires. I'm just curious to know approximately how much h2o you use in this process. Some people seem to think that 8 gallons is way extreme...

Again like I said earlier, I'm just curious to know how much o2 people are using doing the same process.
Thanks.

8 gallons of bucket water or hose water?

I probably put 1 1/2 gallons in my rinse and 3 gallons in my wash.

Thanks for the response buddy. I'm actually referring to total h2o use from start to finish. Initial rinse, wheels/tires, two buckets and final rinse.
Just curious....

i have no clue in the total amount of water used from start to finish. sorry buddy

Ohhh. How would you go about measuring that? I would be curios to know how much I use.

Hell, idk know how to measure it accuately either. But I do know that I fill my wheel bucket with approx. 2 gallons, I fill my two buckets with about 2-3 gallon each. Now as far as the initial rinse and final rinse, I'm guessing I use approx. 1.5 gallon for each.

The only reason I'm asking is b/c I mentioned on another post that I probably use about 8 gallons per wash and someone thought that was extremely too much.?.?... But heck, I know what works for me.

That's what I'm going to be doing. I found a spare 5 gallon bucket kicking around so my plan of attack is to have 1 wash bucket and 1 rinse bucket each with GGs and a third wash bucket (no GG) for wheels, tires and wells.

That's funny...cause this is what I do. I have 3 buckets. Two for my wash and one for wheels only.

Meghan,

That's just not right!

A little birdie told me Matt and Nick are pro's at this and it would give them something to do!!

HA, I've been doing this for a while now and just realized that I've been part of the three bucket team without even realizing it..

I have a separate bucket for washing the wheels and tires. I do this even before preparing the car wash solution. Once the tires and wheels are done I grab my two buckets and have at it...:props:
