Hi again guys,
I have some problems in replacing my PC7424XP with DAS6. What do you think about this DAS6 compared to PC7424XP??
really need advice here, so I won't regret replacing my PC7424XP with DAS6. Actually I want to replace my PC7424XP because it stopped rotating easily when I apply it. Off course it stop when I put it in tilt position.
I hope you can help me in choosing the better one between those two I mentioned above. Feed back please
Thanks in advance guys for the help.:dblthumb2:

Best regards,
Jefri Lay

Hey Jefri,

I don't have any personal experience with the DAS6 nor have I seen one but the spec's don't look too bad.

It seems to go for about 80 pounds so that's got to be close to $140.00 US. It's sort of high but then again I have no history with this polisher..

For me the choice would be the Porter Cable 7424XP

Hi BobbyG,
The one who sells it said that das6 is more powerfull than PC7424XP and also cheaper price here in indonesia. So I'd like to try it but first I need to know the opinion from my friends here on Autogeekonline, because they'll never lead me to the wrong path:dblthumb2:
Thanks BobbyG for your opinion :props:

DAS6 looks like the Griot's Garage unit which looks like the Shurhold unit, which looks like the blank unit...

I've seen different colored housings, different names, but it's possible they are all the same knock-off of the PC just slight differences.

I like the PC because you can drive over it with a truck and still buff all day long with it, but the GG unit and all the other versions, does have the most power out of all the DA Polishers and in simple terms this means rotates pads best and it's when the pad is rotating that defects are removed.

From a behind the scenes point of view, some people seem to get upset if a tool breaks on them, especially if it's the only tool they have and they are under the gun to get a job done. A warranty is great but that doesn't put a replacement tool into your hands in minutes, it takes time, as in days and possibly weeks to get the replacement.

If you are the personality type that gets upset and even hot because a tool breaks then get a back-up or go with a tool that won't break.

It's too bad Porter Cable doesn't pay attention to auto detailing discussion forums where they could get a clue about the market and the trends taking place.

:)

Hi Jefri

How have you been doing?

Hi Flash Gordon, so far so good... but in this case (DAS6 and PC) really confused in replacing PC to DAS6... PC works great but someone from Indonesia told me that DAS6 is more powerfull to use. So I'd like to know the opinion here about this.

Reads like you answered your own question.

No.. No.. I haven't bought DAS6 and I have no big problem with PC too, but if DAS6 is better than PC so I'll repace it with DAS.
About what I said before "PC stop rotating easily", what I try to tell you is I thought PC have less power which can make it stop rotating. Some say too that Flex for example ,will not stop rotating. That's that I thought Mike.
If I replace the PC with DAS6 and the result is the same, and the ease of use is the same, I will not replace my PC.
So I still searching enlightment about DAS6. So what will you choose if you were me? DAS6 or stick with PC?

Thanks Mike, really glad you join the thread

PS: I never try DAS6 before. That's why I'm asking opinion about it.

Hi jeffry if i am you i will keep the xp and get
a rotary buffer..

Sorry for not answering your question but i'm not sure da to da upgrade is going to be a significant upgrade.. In terms of bogging down the 850w unit bogs down too.. I assume you are proficient enough with a DA and machine buffing.. I stepped up to a rotary with DA experience and thorough study of dave kg guide on rotary polishing and guess what ? I didnt get any of those paint burns and holograms.. one thing i did that isnt mentioned in that guide was using 5.25" and 6.5" light polishing waffle pad or finish pad.. Less risk burning paint with medium aggressive and smaller size pad.

It's not much of an upgrade even in terms of cutting power between the das6 and the pcxp.. If you need more cut power getting mf or surbuf pad will be a wiser choice

Keep your pcxp im with the americans on this one  if you ask this question over DW i am willing to bet they will convince you to get the das 6 pro :)

Hey guys.. Im experiencing the same problem as Jeffri here..
I dont want to start a new thread but i hope someone can give me some good advice.

Im about to change from hand detailing into machine detailing and i got problem choosing the right DA polisher for me: PC7424XP - GG6 - DAS6 Pro.

At the first, ive set my mind to get the GG6 since it got more power and good value of money. But after browsing some local forum, some of the members told me that DAS6 Pro is exactly the same one as GG6 (with the different color - well even some told me that both DAS6 and GG were manufactured in Chinea, only different brands)

This simply annoys me... Well, thats because i can get DAS6 Pro for quite reasonable cheap price here in Indo, while i need to buy either PC or GG from abroad and this will be quite costly.

So if u guys have ever had any experience with DAS6Pro, let me know. I really need some advice here.
And one other thing, can anyone advice me about either the PC or GG durability? Which ones better? I wont buy any good that breakdown so easily since it would be very very costly if i got to send the machine back to US.
And oh yeah, i want to get flex, but the price simply put me off. :( :(

You're not likely to find much feedback here about the DAS6 Pro, because it isn't sold in the US - try checking out Detailing World, the UK detailing forum, where the DAS6 Pro is one of the more commonly available DAs. Conversely, you're not likely to find many reviews of the GG6 there, for the same reason - it's not sold over there. So I guess what I'm saying is that direct comparisons between the two are likely to be pretty thin on the ground.

Just out of curiosity, where can you find the DAS6 Pro in Indonesia? The only locally available DA here in the Philippines is the G220v2, and it is incredibly overpriced (PhP 14,000, or over USD 300!). We usually just get our DAs from the US and have them shipped here, but it might be more economical to get them from over there, if the price is right...

I've never seen or heard of a DAS6 polisher. Looked it up on Google, and it looks identical to the GG6 to me. They even seem to have a 3" which looks the same as Griots 3" as well. Probably the same thing with a different name.

If that's the case...I would go with the DAS6 over the PC. I have the Griots (just got it recently), and the PC. I've used the PC quite a bit, and was very happy with the upgrade in power to the GG6. It makes things much easier during correction. :dblthumb2:

Although...the GG6 comes with a lifetime warranty. Why not just buy the GG6??

I've had a DAS6 for about 18 months. When it works, it is great, but unfortunately I've had it replaced about 5 times in that period.

I've recently purchased a Concours 900. Its nearly double the power of the DAS6 and is it obvious the first time you use it. So at this stage the DAS6 has become my backup machine, so I just keep a small BP on it.

You can get the Concours from Waxit - Premium Car Care AustraliaWaxit - Premium Car Care Australia. Check the specification as compared the the little PC7424XP

Since you are in Indonesia you may also find it to be cheaper to import to Indonesia. Concours 900 is 220 volt only.

Well, theres a member of the local forum who sold it only for around USD190. Its simply more economical compared to PC or G110/220 if ive got to shipped them to Indo which could double the price..

Yeah, i think the same way too.. But im a bit concerned about DAS6Pro quality. The seller only gives 6 months warranty which although the specs are identical with GG6, both can be different in durability. Just curious, is GG6 manufactured in China too?

You got the DAS6 or the Pro one? Wow, i think your post might have swayed me into GG6. 5 times over a year and half?:confused::confused: The seller only gives 6 months warranty.
Btw, ive checked Concours. Isnt it kinda the same one as GG6 and DAS6Pro? Even the same specs, different voltages though. Makes me wonder, does GG just manufacture their machines on China and have them rebranded by many other companies?:confused::confused:

You got the DAS6 or the Pro one?

The Pro wasn't available when I purchased the DAS6. I can't explain my bad luck with it, because others here (Australia) and the UK don't seem to have had the problems I've had. The warranty was 12 months here, and even though it is now 18 months, Waxit keeps replacing it free of charge, so I can't really complain. They not only replace/repair it, but supply a loaner machine if necessary.

I've demoed the Pro, but the Concours was even more powerful than the Pro, so I purchased the Concours. The GG, DAS6 or DAS6Pro, G110/220 and just about any DA - are all manufactured in China, so I doubt it will make much difference. I'd reckon the quality would be about the same with any of them. Basically the quality is pretty much crap when you compare it to say a rotary like a Festool Shinnex or a Flex.

It is no big deal to change the voltage - just depends on which country they are being sold into. What is your voltage requirement?

Ah, I see. You don't have freight forwarders over there? I can buy a DA in the US, and have it shipped, via sea, over here for USD 30, through services like this. As for where they're made, I have no doubt that they're all China-built products, rebranded by whoever purchases them - check out this page.

Its 220V but its not a big deal since i can use a transformator.
Well, i dont know about the quality, but i hope GG is quite a company and i dont expect them to sell poor quality products.

Well we got one like that, but actually a friend is coming back from the state so im gonna ask him to bring some good detailin stuff.
Yeah, i hope GG got some QC over their products. Same spec, same built, but def hoping for a better quality. :)

I can't add any comments about a GG as I've never used one, but if you are 220v why don't you contact Waxit re the Concours, which is more powerful than the GG.

Would reckon shipping from Aus to Indonesia would be cheaper than from the US with the GG.
