Detailing wheel wheels, what can I use?

Hi well it is almost the weekend!
What can i use to spray around the wheel wells thats inexpensive and will last a while?
After i brush and clean these areas?

This area has been the only time I use a cheap spray dressing you could use prety much anything that is a shine product just make sure you mist it...
 
Clean with ARO ... agitate well .... use Griots Undercarriage Spray or Stoners Trim Shine.
 
Megs HD works wonders on wheel wells after being cleaned well with an APC.

If you're looking for something local then just grab a can of tire foam and spray away.

I use a product callede Bare Bones from the Chemical Guys. It's not sold here at AG, but it's pretty descent stuff.
 
+1 on using whatever you're using for tires, or a quick spritz of aerosol tire foam. With road-spray, etc., I find it tough to get anything to last -on- the wheels much less the plastic in the well.
 
I use to buy the specialty undercarriage sprays, but even they don't last much longer than a week at the absolute most. Now I just pick up any tire shine or dressing that is on sale and use it. No sense in wasting expensive product like that. I was lucky and found Megs Hot Shine on clearance at Target for $1 per bottle. So I’m stocked up for a while.

Now, if you have a new car, or at least a car that has perfectly clean wheel wells, you can use Opti-Coat or CQ to coat the plastic liners. I did this on my mom's brand new car on advice from Dubbin, and it works awesome. They aren't super shiny, but after a simple spray down, and maybe some agitation if they are really bad, they look brand new.

i use the same or whatever i can find on clearance. i find the best applicator pad to be an old 5.5 or 6.5 pad that you don't use anymore or is too beat up to use.

Have you tried PERL yet, Scott? At the 3:1 (Water:PERL) seems pretty economic with minimal streaking. I got some PERL in about a week ago and tried it on some exterior plastic and it seems to work well, just not sure of the durability...

I like bare bones too. However, you can't just spray it on and walk away. On some plastics it will dry with very noticeable drip marks. You can wipe it with a MF towel, but then it seems like you're removing most of it. With Meg's HD, you can spray it on and walk away. It doesn't dry with drip marks and lasts long enough, IMO.
 
iIam a huge fan of Megs All Season Dressing. I put 2 gallons in a commercial garden sprayer. Dries to a durable black finish, Costs <$30 a gallon!
BTW this one will drip. I use a shop paper towel to wipe drips and oh yeah! Nitrile Gloves!
 
Megs Hyper Dressing. I prefer 4:1 cut, but I really like the least amount of shine possible. HMM maybe I should try it cut even more.

I thought the same think, even at 4:1, it still leaves wells very glossy. I couldn't imagine anything higher. What ratio are u thinking to try?
 
I think ill make a bottle of 5:1 or 6:1 see what happens. There is a huge difference from full to 4:1 so I think 6:1 might be sufficient for what I am looking for.

++ok you've finally sold me on HD, ill try some. sounds awesome that it dries from spraying

That is the only way aerosol ones would be cost effective. I use them in a pinch but pricey at regular prices. The Meg's has less "uses" than Armor All aerosol for me.
