Favorite Car Wash

LOL if you really were an auto geek like you say then you wouldn't have posted a link to another site :D

Hint: thats a no no around here ;)

Does AG sell Chemical Guys products? I'm actually serious, because if they do, I'm dumb and can't find them?

Was just providing product information, not intentionally promoting another site.

No they do not sell CG products.

Wow never read the rules until I saw that...Good thing I didnt post links to my favorite products...

Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash when doing maintenance wash and CG Citrus Wash and Gloss when I'm trying to strip my LSP.

Here is the latest spreadsheet I came up with. I ordered them alphabetically as well as smallest to largest size. I only included soaps that were $50 or less regardless of size. If you want to know more please let me know! Thanks!

Where did you get the WG dilution? The web site says 1 to 2 oz in a 5 gallon bucket but never really says how much water. I have used it 1/3 oz per gallon to 1/2 oz per gallon.

Yea, I made numerous comments about that and to be honest, saying 1-2 ounces per wash/bucket really pisses me off. A bucket or wash is not a standard measurement so why are they labeling it as such I do not know. It seems like you can use 1 oz per wash, but that's only if you use 2 gallons of water..

I calculated .5 oz per gallon or 2oz for a wash (4 gallons). I could average it out, but I did that and some people said "oh, that's too little, or oh that's too much" ..and there lies the problem of needing an actual measurement and using non standard terms..

Max, your chart is the best I've seen and I love the new addition of color bars. Thank you for the excellent work and sharing it with us. I will consult it in the future.

What about the DG Wash? Should it be 2 oz for 3 gallons?

Max the chart idea is great. The price per wash is really gonna let me tell a couple people I told you so on a couple of them :D

Thanks!

I can't remember the last time I used Excel so I learned alot. It's kinda weird, since I build computers and know code, but don't know how to use a program like Excel!

As for the DG Wash, it says "Combine one ounce of shampoo with 3-5 gallons of water." The average would be 1 once per 4 gallons which is the amount of water I used as a wash!

If I am wrong about this or not talking about the same product let me know!

I also have the Access Database sheet so I can order the entire list based on high to low on any column. I tried doing that in Excell, but only that column would move and not the entire row! I'm sure there is a way though!

Indeed! :xyxthumbs:

It's really interesting when you look at the dilution levels. For example the Supernatural Shampoo has the highest price per oz, but since it also has the highest dilution it's in the middle when true cost (cost per wash) in concerned! I like the role dilution plays here!

If you don't mind would there be any chance you could email the file to me? I understand if you don't want to since you put a lot of work in it.

No!!!! It's my file!!!!

Washes.xlsx

Do you want the Access File too or do you know how I can move the entire row when I sort them in a column?

Awesome Max! I was gonna pm you for it as well

I made one a long time ago but it's not near as nice looking and doesn't have near as many shampoos.

OK Max I got it fixed so you can sort the way you want to. PM me your email address and I'll send it to you/

I spoke to Jerry@Duragloss and you can follow the 1oz./gallon method. I have used it 1oz/2 gallons and it was still slick and effective. Anything over 1oz/gallon is a waste of soap in my opinion. *Edit - I have used 6oz/3 gallons of water and did not feel a benefit from it. There was a visible thick gel like coating at the bottom of my wash bucket when I rinsed it out.

Max, richard posted that he spoke with the chemist of Duragloss and was told to use 3 ounces per 4-5 gallons.

Richard, can you please confirm this?

Edit, LOL you posted at the same time.

That was pretty funny Corey! But yes, any ratio of 1/2oz per gallon to 1oz per gallon will be safe and effective. :dblthumb2:
