that much cut on a traditional DA and even the Flex 3401. I've used M105/orange and it doesn't completely remove a lot of swirls I come across. It's almost like a heavy polishing pad, IMO. Anyone feel the same way?

I'm just about to use some m105 for the first time......what pad do you suggest?

The last car I detailed I started out using the LC orange CCS pad and M105 w/my G110V2 DA. The car was black and heavily swirled. I ended up going to the LC yellow CCS pad and M105.

So yeah, I kinda agree. I do think the orange pad can knock out swirling, just not the really bad stuff.

What kinda car are you working on? I did a blaçk bimmer this past week and the orange lc flat pad knocked it out pretty quick. Might have been playing with my new makita, though :D

The orange pad does an excellent job, just doesn't get as much as a wool pad or the MF disks do. Not sure it was made to be that aggressive, though.

It's only supposed to be a "light cutting pad". What's the difference between a "light cutting pad" and a "heavy polishing pad"? Probably nothing except the description. It's just another tool in the drawer, if it doesn't have enough cut for what you are doing step down to a yellow foam or Surbuf or wool and live with the increased micro-marring.

It's a Dodge Caravan. I was using the Megs DA MF but that was not getting it and needed to go over each section a whole 2nd cycle to get it right. It was WAY too much work and was wearing me out. I could have finished the whole car in the time it took to do half...

Have you tried the MF pads and 105? That's what I ended up using on my girlfriend's sebring and it worked pretty well. It was the most neglected paint I've ever worked on and it got roughly 90% of everything out.

The MF pads are more aggressive than the orange pad.

the orange pad on my makita works great. does tackle the job pretty well. i have never thought about doing correction with a DA... im just weird like that! :dblthumb2:

I <3 my makita. I had been practicing with it for a while and finally used it for a full detail last week. Learned a lot that day haha. No paint was harmed...

Just what I was thinking :iagree:

Correction in red :props:

Hey rotary guys, I did mention on a DA. :D Anything will work better on a rotary.

I just think the orange pad is made out to be more aggressive on the forums than it really is.

Since I always start least aggressive and move up I prolly would agree orange ccs on a DA might not meet heavy swirl needs. As mentioned, I like the orange ccs on a makita with 105/205 on white.. working through testing megs (105/205) again menz against the DA MF, against Adam's kit (PC/Flex).. and on a variety of pads...

Looking to speed up my detail while trying to remove as little as possible...

Regards,
Mike

I have very hard paint and orange w/105 get all swirls and most RIDS. I clean after every section.

When I first compounded my car I found the orange did not have enough cut for all the bad scratches I had. I had to use a yellow to remove those scratches but I am sure they were RIDS.

And my car has soft paint, btw.

I have done most of my corrections using the Orange LC pad and the methods I have learned from Kevin Brown. I now find myself using more Buff and Shine though

I have always said the CCS pads didnt ever have as much cut as the low profile orange pads did.

I just ordered some of the hydro-tech pads for my 3401. see how they do...

I've achieved some very nice results with orange LC and M105 on a PCXP...technique plays a huge role though (KBM).

A few example test spots....
