Which manufacture has the worst orange peel from factory??

My 06 Black Mustang has pretty bad orange peel. Worse than my black Mazda RX-8 was. I've seen some black Nissan 350z's that had mirror like black paint from the factory. The other day I saw scion Xb that almost made me cry it looked so good, I couldn't see any orange peel at all.

This is what no orange peel should look like! :)

Barring some high end cars that are wetsanded from the factory, EVERY other car from the factory has orange peel.

And often those cars wetsanded at the factory get delivered with tracers and swirls all over them, sadly.

Even the Ferrari 458 isn't immune to Orange Peel, Flaking paint, pig tails and holograms.

some of the GM's have been real bad as of late. but the worst i have seen is Mercedes

+4 for Ford lol my 150 is terrible also! But I prefer to call it "oil pastel" reflection its a high end paint job :p:laughing:

+5 on Ford. My 09' Ford Flex has the worst orange peel I've seen on a car.

Kia is really horrible, but I guess that's to be expected... I had a girl ask me if my 2011 Optima came with it stock, apparently she thought it was it was aftermarket and she said she liked how the whole car had deep orange peel texture .
I kind of want it gone but its a Kia and I'm not spending any more money on it.

my jeep has very noticeable orange peel as well. all the grand cherokees have it:(

i havent noticed too much orange peel on bmw's though

My 08 350Z has it pretty good if you catch it in the right light (silver makes it hard to see). I'd say the worst I had was my chili pepper red 2003 Saturn Ion. Maybe it was just the color, but it was pretty bad.

My 2011 Mazda 3 has some lovely orange peel on the doors. I don't see it on the flat services. I hate orange peel but I'm way too chicken to try to do anything about it. I remember someone on another thread corrected an entire new blue Mustang with bad orange peel. It was amazing! The car looked perfect when he was all done:bowdown:. But that's not my line of work, so I'll just admire the work of the experts and try not to stare at my car doors.

Absolutely and the worst is the one you own. Pretty much everybody complains about it with new cars. Thin coats of clear, production saving strategies and EPA requirements have made orange peel a standard feature from all factories IMO.

What color is yours? My Snow White has zero orange peel.

If you wetsanded it and buffed then yes it has no orange peel. If it is factory paint then i 100% dont believe you. Put a ruler near it to see the reflection, and post a picture. Just in case you are wondering why a ruler. A ruler is 100% straight and orange peel distorts the reflection thus distorting a perfect line. If the reflection of the ruler is 100% straight then you have no orange peel. There is no car on earth from factory with no orange peel unless its a bentley or rolls royce.

Bentley's (VW) and Rolls Royce (BMW) from other forums that I browse comes with Orange Peel:p

I guess my statement about my Snow White was off since it is white paint I find it hard to find flaws in it. I should if I could reedit my post that it has close to zero. I know my Supra has almost no orange peel besides the side skirts.

But Yeah 93fox I'll take a picture and see if I can spot any:props:

Also I keep on missing this but I was looking over my friends Altima (2010 model and 2007 model) and both of them looks like it belongs in a fruit tray.

I always use the ruler technique to determine how much orange peel there is. Since i do alot of wet sanding to remove orange peel i have found that trick to help me determine how aggresive i need to go with the sanding. I know some factory cars have more than others. Some have slight and its not that noticable, but every car from factory has orange peel.

What is this ruler technique you speak of Oscar?

Its just a simple trick that i came up with that has helped me alot. Its pretty simple. Orange peel distorts the reflections right? So what i do with the ruler is just hold it and look at the reflection of the ruler and walk across staring at the reflection of the ruler. Doing this the orange peel distorts the perfect line making it look like a wavy line. So looking at the line and how distorted it looks i determine where i have to start wetsanding with. Ive even started with 800g sometimes. If the line dosent look all that distorted i start with 1500g. Once ALL the orange peel is gone and you buff, put the ruler and it will look 100% straight. Thats how i do it and it has helped me. I hate orange peel and i always get rid of it. Everything just looks so much more beautiful without orange peel! :) hope this helps Flash.
