Project: 1993 Mustang

Thanks flash! I did alot of progress today sanding all the crap off. Hopefully on wed. Or thursday i can reshoot it!

If you're just going to reshoot, why not just zip over it with 1000 grit on a DA to level out the nibs? I wouldn't think it should take all that long....

Charlie, how i wish it was nibs i was dealing with here. Its actual chunks of crap heavily everywhere. Theres also nibs, and a bunch of other random things. White hide alot of things, so as soon as i shot the first coat of clear EVERYTHING showed. I had tacked it off before the clear but that stuff was deep in there. Anyways, as soon as i saw all that crap on the first coat i just decided to not even keep shooting clear since it was worthless. Ive actually ran around the whole car with 800grit on the da to take out most of the stuff. Now im refnining it with 1000. The hood and trunk are refinished so i dont have to worry about those. The thing that is taking me a while is all the sanding im doing. Ive seen hacks put in the edge of the DA to remove the crap faster. What that does is just create wavyness. Keeping the DA flat is the key. So thats why its taking my longer, because some of this stuff is a little deep and i keep the DA flat. It takes a little longer, but im not worried about creating wavyness. The clear for some reason is also stupid hard.

Ouch, that's worse than I thought. Good luck with the reshoot!

Update.

I finally got to refinish snowflake today. Let me tell you guys i am sooooo happy it came out nice. Well other than the few crap that managed to land on the clear. What ruined it from being a perfect paintjob was that my stupid jeans touched the door when i spraying the roof and managed to leave lint. Im no tall guy, im 5'8 so reaching the roof with no hassle is something i cant do. anywho, i managed to put 3 heavy coats of clear and it looks great in person. I seriously cant wait to wet sand the entire car and eliminate all the orange peel. well enough of my happy rant. onto the pics.

THATS THE NASTY LINT THAT RUINED WHAT WOULD OF BEEN A NEARLY PERFECT PAINTJOB!

Hopefully the lint comes off when i wetsand it. If not, then im going to have to reshoot it... witch i hope i dont have to do. Other than that i am pretty satisfied with the way it came out! Keep an eye out for tomorrow guys, i am going to put the hood and trunk and take some pictures. im sorry for not having a good camera and taking crappy pictures with phone. But hey, better than nohting! :dblthumb2:

Hope that lint comes off petty clean, man. Looks real good other wise. Now it just needs that colored interior you hate and it will be perfect!

Me too!!! but thats going to have to wait, i still have to do the bumpers and moldings!

Uh, jeans? Why weren't you wearing a shoot suit?

Looks good so far!

Charlie even those lint. The ones that are good are like $100+... I wish i had that amount of money to drop on a paint suit. But i acknowledge my mistake and will do my best to fix it.

But its looking good! I am happy with the reults! Other than that damn lint i got on the door......

update

Not a really big update but today i managed to remove all the paper and plastic from the car and put the hood and trunk back on. I was even amazed at how cool it looks!
