Ordered several items from AG using the 20% off VIP and free shipping for Mike P's anni. AG, of course, shipped promptly the next day - July 20. Thought I would have the package by the following Monday. When it didn't arrive I checked the UPS site with the tracking number. By the tracking info it was "out for delivery" on the 25th but returned because it was damaged in transit. So, it gets all the way to my local UPS hub and out for delivery before the morons notice it's damaged? It's "being returned". If I was AG, I'd be seriously screaming at my UPS rep that they need to pike a few employees out in front of HQ to set an example.

Seems like the damaged in transit is becoming more frequent. I think we need to buy UPS a punching bag so they can take out their stress on that instead of our packages

It happens, I am sure AG will take care of you despite the shipping company blunder.

I'm not defending UPS, and you don't say what was in your package, but it could be that the guys who loaded the truck put the package upside down and it only leaked at that point, and was only noticed when the driver took it off the shelf to deliver it and it was a mess and he decided to bring it back, which I think is actually an easier claim for you than if he had delivered it.

IME the drivers complain a lot about how the trucks are loaded for them (which is done by the overnight crew when the drivers aren't there).

I've ordered a lot of stuff online thru eBay, amazon, AG, and even rims & tires but the ONLY damaged boxes I have received was from AG and Amazon containing detailing stuff. The tape was fully ripped but nothing missing inside on both.

I wonder if the damaged boxes that get returned to AG are missing items. Don't ask how I know but some people who work at ups/fedex will open boxes from AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, etc and take the phones out and just count it as damaged/stolen/lost. Sad world.

I'd agree if it wasn't for the fact that I order quite a bit of non-detailing liquid stuff from other vendors and don't have this problem. Now, it could be that AG needs to tape the lids to their liquids. A lot of packages I get have the lids taped to prevent loosening. I don't recall off-hand if AG is doing that.

Anyway, it just seems VERY SUSPICIOUS that AG is experiencing so many "damaged" packages.

Is it possible that is because detailing shipments frequently have gallon jugs in them and put a lot of stress on the packaging?

I would surmise that is FedEx...I'm presuming the depots are pretty well surveilled and I doubt a UPS driver would risk his Teamster pension for a phone. Either way this will likely soon be a thing of the past--UPS is already doing GPS monitoring of the trucks (no more extended lunch breaks) and I would imagine video in the truck will be coming.

I always have to footnote these kind of comments with a IME/YMMV because different areas seem to have different experiences with different carriers. Around here FedEx sucks (both express and ground, which are different organizations), while UPS is very good.

Wouldn't this still fall under the UPS umbrella of responsibility?

I think it's fair to say that either there's been an increase in damaged products once its in the hands of the shipper, this case UPS, or members are just starting to post this.

What I can add to this thread is that every package I've ever received from Autogeek was packaged very well to avoid / combat the apparent lack of handling skills. If something does become damaged the packages exterior more often than not shows a fair amount damage, something that's completely unacceptable and avoidable.

I'm not placing the blame solely on UPS because we have seen deficiencies in factory bottled products, specifically gallons, but the combination of the two seems to be on the up-tick..

No really trying to add anything but a friend of mine used to work for UPS and he said packages get "lost" in transit all the time and its mostly packages from phone carriers.

I know for a fact that men at Ford Motor Company risked, and lost their job over a roll of toilet paper. I also know the union got their job back for them. Sad! All in who you know...sad. There are stupid people everywhere willing to take a chance...usually the ones to get their job back as well.

My last box from AG was weird. The tape was ripped open; retaped in places with the clear packing tape; and still a section hanging open. My reaction was "Oh No". Everything was there, and fine. Good job packing AG.
To the op above, all of my jugs with caps are taped by AG before shipping.

*had to come back with my new therory: they open the box to take stuff; a packing peanut jumps on them; takes 30 minutes to wrestle it off; out of time.

I dunno...I only have contact with the drivers, but most of them seem to really go above and beyond and I have a hard time imagining them doing that kind of thing, because it would catch up with them (they are the only one in the truck, so it would have to be them). The depot workers are lower paid, frequently part-time, etc. so I can't speak to that.

Again, some of this could be regional differences...maybe the manager of my region is a hard*** and it flows downhill and everyone stays on the straight and narrow.

My second last order had been opened and something was removed from it. They cut open the bottom of the carton and re-taped it closed with clear tape. This package from Auto Geek was sent to a Marina who intercepts my orders and holds them for me for pick-up. So it was either UPS that opened it up or someone at the Marina. I let Duwayne know about it and they credited me for the missing car wash soap. There were no signs of leakage or anything, so, someone opened intentionally, for sure. Could have been the Marina or someone at UPS needed some car wash soap.

When I placed my first order with PMBG it came on a pallet and had one box that someone had driven a forklift tong through... I contacted AG and they sent out a new box of that product...

On the phone note it is kinda funny that anyone would steal a new phone as they all have IMEI #'s on them and can be tracked... T-mobile had an issue with a few warehouse employees stealing them then blaming the shipper and come to find out they had the phones and were selling them on ebay and cl... The IMEI was tracked on 59 phones that were stolen from them and now they are felons...

It comes back around on the truly guilty...

I emailed cust service. I am not trying to resolve the issue with this post. I made no such comment in the post. Why would you assume that?

Couldn't remember if the last order with liquid in it was taped or not.

Your theory is some funny chit .

 It's not you, but there are a lot of people who complain on the forum first without calling AG customer service.

It's actually a pretty solid assumption as of late, and it makes sense to check.

UPS Sucks!

FedEx should be your shipper of choice

Yours,
