Let's say you use IronX first. After, would TarX remove the same things that you would remove with clay? Basically, if you IronX'd, then TarX'd, is there still a need to clay?

There's not many things in detailing that I don't enjoy to do, but claying is one of them. I would assume, even after these 2 steps, they'll probably still suggest claying, but we'll wait for an answer.
 
I find it strange that I haven't seen Avi on the forums for sometime now. Must be a busy man but I'm sure he'll chime in like he always does with an answer for all of us.

I'm going to go out on a limb here but I'm sure he'll still suggest that we clay after we Iron X and Tar X the car.

Hi All

ill try to answer you in the best true way, i think that after these both de-con you will remove 90% of contamination from surface. i dont want to say 100% since there always could be other dirt/sand/dust baked in the clearcoat
the best way to check if you need to clay after is to test with cellophane nylon , same as wraped the cigarette boxes. passing it on the car paint with your two fingers inside of it

Avi about using Iron X and Iron X paste the right way. When I spray Iron X do I just let it set or do I rub it in with a sponge?

Same for Iron X Paste do I let it sit there, or rub it in?

BTW I just ordered the Paste.

Hi Sean,

Iron X you wash the car first and then spray it on.

Next you wait a couple minutes (directions say 2-3) - (you will see the purple color where it is reacting)

Then you rub it in with your wash media (instructions say soft sponge) and rinse off thoroughly.



Iron X paste you apply and wait 5-6 min for full reaction.

Then rinse thoroughly with water.


Don't let either product dry on the paint.
 
Last time I did it I sprayed it than just let it sit their and rinsed it off. Wondering when I rub it in if I should use a sponge with some water/soap mixture. Or just go with a wet sponge.

I have used the water soap mixture like you in the past. I would prefer that for additional lubrication but I'm not positive if it can have any negative side affects. I doubt it.
Lets see what Avi says... if the soap can have any negative affect of possibly neutralizing the ironx before it's finished reacting.
 
I think Tar X is meant more for spot cleanings, instead of just applying to the whole car. I've seen some cars trashed with tar, and I still wouldn't use my tar remover on the entire paint. So I would assume that claying would still be necessarily. But thats just a guess.

I was thinking that the most ideal would be to have a water bucket with Iron X Soap Gel mixture to agitate the Iron X spray that's on the paint.

I'm just wondering because one time I remember Avi posting about diluting the product to much if the car is still wet when using Iron X spray.

Guess I never saw that; I've always used the IronX spray while the car was still "wet" (I sheet as much water off as I can, but that's it) and I've never had a problem with the product not doing its job.

The pictures you posted of a white VW(?) was probably one of the better ones showing off this product working on paint.

Thanks for your info Charlie that you sheet the water before putting Iron X on.
 
Does AG not already sell the new improved formula of CQuartz?
