headlight restoration jobs u regret

question of today is have you done a headlight restoration job you regret you started and it did not turn out right.

1. done a set of headlight you have to redo over
2 customer standing over you watching slowing ur time
3.they say to you have you seen that 10 dollor commerical wipe on wipe off
4 how long it take i got some where to go
5 well dam it do look better did not believe it can get done i was going to buy new set
just some of the question i get let here from the rest of yall

I can't say that I've done a restore that I regret...but, I've experienced all those situations before, ha.

I don't recall a set I ever had to redo per say...but I have had to touch some up here and there. But I think that's typical.

I've been asked about that commercial many times. Fortunately...this stupid product has actually brought me some customer that it didn't work for, ha. They end up looking worse! Then they have to pay to get it done right anyways.

As for the customer standing over me...I actually find that to be a positive thing. Once they see what quick work I make of it...they are ALWAYS impressed. Also, they typically know right off the bat that this is something they would not have been able to pull off. I enjoy the viewer...cause it almost always results in a tip, ha.

Just cause someone is watching you...shouldn't change a thing. Do what you have to do, and they will absolutely find it to be interesting, and impressive.

I really love doing headlights. It's really good money when I can come and setup, restore and seal the lights, get paid and be rolling away in 30-40 minutes. Do it 4 times and make $240

I don't mind them watching but it slows me down when I get the "hows that work?" why did you 2 different polishes?" etc.

What I really hate is when the headlights are really bad you can't see inside.. While I like making them crystal clear.. It sucks when they are fogged or condensation on the inside.. Nothing to do for that

Yeah I hear ya. It sucks when you can't tell before you start that they are damaged on the inside. Definitely disappointing when you finish, and then see the inside.

Thats why I take tons of before, before and after pictures. I also inform them if they are in that bad of condition, that they werent coming out looking OEM brand new, I would improve the output of light that will come out. Once they understand I will continue on with the job.

I agree with you. I always take before and afters to prove the job was not worthless by any means, ha.

You can bake the headlights and take off the seals and do them from the inside. Then seal it back up after you cleaned the inside and out... But that's asking for about 1~300 dollars right there for a job like that.

Simple solution for inner lamp condensation, I just put the socket onto my shopvac hose and let air flow for 30 minutes or until it disappeared. Stirring the inner with a blow gun helps too
