I agree Mark but Im sure he meant the hologram effect. I sometimes get it with D300 on certain paints. Maybe it is just when its super hot and humid but I will occasionally get that. I have been using glass cleaner to prep the surface so far but I think I may try out this stuff and see if it is worth the price.

Which of the Griots products do you prefer for this same type of application Mark or Richard?

I'm thinking from the polishes and not necessarily from a rotary/pad combo. After watching the video that was how I made that conclusion. Unless this is a sprayable glaze? :dunno:If this is the case then the guys using CG EZ Creme to clean paint may want to look at this product.

Never Usedthe car pro stuff. But the Griots works great and I see no need to purchase the more expensive product.
 
After watching the video a couple times I'm starting to become very curious about Eraser. Hmm....

Jon, I used Griot's Pre-Wax Cleaner to remove day old M105 splatter from both paint and glass. Sounds like a good test for Eraser as well.
 
I like the Griots Pre Wax cleaner, but I'll probably try the eraser. However, I'm curious to know how much IPA is in it?
 
Mark/Jon, you guys are right. By holograms Avi means the holograms you can see from some polish residue.

Looks like a primising product as long as it has a low % of IPA. I don't like using IPA on paint.

Doc, here is some info on Griots Pre-Wax Cleanser that makes me think it is not suitable for use before applying coatings.

From the Griots website:

"Made from a carefully blended combination of citrus oil and surfactants, so it won't harm the paint and is fast and easy to use"

It states it works well for use before waxes and sealants so I'm sure it does. However I am going to assume it leaves something behind that won't be helpful to the durability of nano or urethane coatings.

I have never used the Griots or tested the two head to head but it sounds like the Griots leaves something behind.

Hopefully one of our chemical engineer friends can provide more insight but... what I get from what I read on wikipedia about surfactants is that something is left behind by surfactants if used in the application method that is described by Griots.

I would think the citrus oil would also leave something behind.

Definitely one of the many uses. What I was thinking was that a surfactant used in a product that isn't rinsed off would leave something behind based on the way it functions.

I really don't have the knowledge or understanding of exactly how these things work. I'm just going off what I have read and different things I have seen other people say.

I hope Jon or one of our chemical engineer friends that is a member here will validate or invalidate this.
 
This eraser looks promising but I've been using griots pre wax cleaner before opti coats for months and can tell you they are a great match allowing for easy application, but I do think it may leave something on the surface or has an effect on the coating as it is slicker if you use griots before application of opti coat, I'll have to get some eraser and give it a try as well though because I'm liking the short term anti static claim :)
 
In the video it looks like there is visible polish residue that he is wiping away. Do you dry wipe the residue first with your MF towel and then wipe with Eraser or do you wipe with Eraser right after polishing?

you can wipe with dry MF, but it wont show you the real polish work you done,
with the eraser you will remove the residue, the polish dust and any oil on the surface, showing the truth polish work.

Surfactants are compounds that lower the surface tension of a liquid, the interfacial tension between two liquids, or that between a liquid and a solid. Surfactants may act as detergents, wetting agents, emulsifiers, foaming agents, and dispersants.
They are "helpers" making it easier to clean. Think of them sort of as an enzyme. An added material to make someothing else work easier\better.

What % IPA is in Eraser?

Thanks Avi. I had been buffing off the polish residue with a MF towel and then applying and wiping the Griots Pre Wax cleaner as an additional step.

Sounds like I can skip the dry buff and remove any polishing residue and oils in 1 step. That will save me time and towels. I look forward to trying Eraser.
