dont you just hate it.....

Not to mention taking in the account for weight of the vehicle, suspension, tires, a lot more than just HP... I can make 10,000 HP but if I can't put it to the ground, what good does it do me?

Yep too many DIY-ers out there that are clueless...

Nice. Sorry for the late response, but here is my MODS list (performance wise):

Hotshot Headers (no longer produced unfortunately)
Mangaflow Exhaust (Custom made at local exhaust shop)
Kinetix Intake Manifold
AEM Cold Air Intake
Nismo Spec R Cams
Apexi Neo AFC (multiple maps)
Nitrous Express 75 wet shot - used only on track nights... but don't tell anyone shhhh Im the MANIm the MANIm the MAN

For starters, whether or not I support Honda, I already pointed out I do not like the mufflers people put on them. I believe the Honda Civic would be comparable to a Chevy Cruze and the Civic puts out more power.

I mean you put someone at 120 lbs in the ring with someone weighing 240 lbs and claim the 120 lb man of course people are going to raise an eye, it is called a rigged fight.

The V6 Camaro puts out 312/278 hp/ft-lbs and a V6 Accord (not ment to be "sportly" like a Camaro but at least has a similar size engine) puts out 271/254 and weighs about 380 lbs less. Put the Accord in its class against a Malibu and the Accord is hands down sportier because the Malibu's best offering is 169 HP.

I will skip the BMW to Accord idea and just say that take any BMW your going to claim is sports car compared to the Accord, and it is more of sports car than your Camaro also.

Psst, the Malibu offers a 3.6L V6 that makes 252hp. It's about 20hp off, but look at the specs
Malibu-252 hp (188 kW) @ 6300 rpm, 251 lb·ft (340 N·m) @ 3200 rpm
Accord-271 bhp (202 kW)@6200, 254 lb·ft (344 N·m)@5000
I do recall that the Malibu is tied with the Altima 3.5SR with quckiest 0-60 time in Consumer Reports testing.

Not trying to pick a fight, but I own the Malibu's cousin, the Saturn Aura and there is an 08 Accord in my family, so I know about both pretty well.

Lol... Just read through this thread... Wow there are some sensitive guys on here... lol... j/k...

I love it when I am in the Z3 (2.5i so not some monster power house) and some guy in a ricer pulls up next to me at a light and revs his loud obnoxious exhaust... I hit the DSC switch (custom tuned mod when I hold the DSC switch for 10 seconds it kicks in the Shark Injector programing i.e. 30 more available horse, no rev limiter, no governor, direct throttle response, etc and turns off traction control completely) then dump the clutch... all in fun never in a "bad azz" show off way sometimes I "win" other times I don't... never an issue...

I will be supercharging the Zed soon. Lowering it and putting on a Remus exhaust system then it will be even funner!

Right now I have stock 192hp 181tq... this is without the S/I activated (In the US BMW governed the hp through the ECM not allowing full hp to be reached as to what the German direct cars had) with the S/I engaged close to 220hp 200tq is allowed
S/C the car and open up the exhaust you go from the 192hp range to the 315hp range!

As for the Rover I love the thing and it sounds mean with the exhaust being done but it is slow and funny to have guys in their decked out 4x4 trucks come up and want to "race" (just because of the sound of the truck) lol... Now hit a trail and we will see who does better...

Any car can be made fast and any car can be made obnoxious but honestly the obnoxious ones annoy me!!!

Yes, it sucks to have revs thrown at you for no reason, but...
Fast cars never look fast
Someone is always faster than you
Street Racing is never a good idea
Knowing the difference between a fast car, and a poser is smart
Wings, Body Kits, Sound systems, neon, and huge wheels never win races
Speed cost money, there are fast Honda's but it cost's alot to make them that way

I've driven a fast honda, my best friend is an Acura service tech. He built his on the clock. I drove his B18 swapped EF hatch that had all the bells and whistles. Fast yes... enjoyable to drive... NO! I'll stick with my Cobra because it's "just a Mustang", and let people wonder why it makes that loud whining sound when I roll on to it. Plus its comfortable and reliable.

You got me there, when you pull up Chevrolet's websites and go to the powertrain specs on the Malibu, it doesn't list the V6 anywhere, and it looks like the reason being it isn't standard equipment on any of the trim levels. (2011 Chevy Malibu Sedan Specs and Features | Chevrolet)
I thought it was odd they wouldn't offer a V6 in midsize but I have seen manufactures do weirder things...like how the new civics look.

A related item - I have seen these more and more often lately and it just bugs me to no end and i don't care if it is jap, domestic, or jap made in america ;)... The soot collecting on the rear bumper because some kid thinks his muffler or wheels or which ever cheap go faster part he subscribes to... gives his engine the magical ability to turn an extra 2500 rpm while he uses the rev limiter as a cheap shift light.

Why do honda make holes in their bumpers? Ive seen this with the ricers. Never understood what purpose it serves. Anyone?

From what I have been told by a few reputable builders is they do it for 2 reasons:

1. air flow - The rear bumper cover can act like a "scoop" as it protrudes below the bumper support for design aesthetics so the holes are "relief" holes to allow the air to freely pass through the area without creating drag...

2. weight reduction - Although I personally can't see removing 3-5 oz of weight being that justifiable (especially when the racer boys pit a 1 lb chunk of aluminium over the area to "dress it up")...

WOW! i just read this whole thing, Some of you have now idea what your talking about. Others are some motor heads. Just becuse a honda has a loud exhuast (fart cannon) does not mean he is a ricer and your BROTHERS mustang would beat it.

If you make 800 rwhp and have street tires, dont get traction. A stock civic could house you off a light. There are so many variables to this that unless you raced, Then a winner can not be crowned.

A bolt on mustang is not fast. Yea kinda quick, fun to drive. It cost money to go fast. I do not believe anyone on how much power a car makes untill i have a dyno sheet or track times / Mph. I have a few freinds with very fast 4 cylnder cars and alot of freinds including myself with high power cars.

Guys that wanna go fast, we will try to make are cars blend in the best we can. We dont want the attention, usally only your money. All though it is fun to play off a light once in awhile or a little roll race.

Dont judge a book buy its cover. Dont beat on cars you dont own. I wont say anything about playing on the street becuase we all do it or have done it. I would bet though if your brothers car was impounded he would be pissed.

I also read someone say they can tell the diffrence in the sound between a tuned honda and non tuned. No way! unless the tune is so far out that it wont run. I love to beat on crotch rockets most of all.

The last time I tried to race a car it was a malibu and it ended up kicking my ass. It was also an unmarked police car and I got lucky he had a sense of humor.

I love this argument. Nobody wins, especially comparing apples and oranges.

a few years ago...

four lane road one campus. I was driving in the left, "passing" lane and was passed on the right by a mustang, only to have it cross in front of me to take a left at the light.

light is red for my lane, going east.
light is red for his lane, going north.

i'm in a 2wd 4 cylinder s-10. so i had to play a bit.

rev the motor a few times with wide eyes and psychotic look as i stare at the mustang.

leaving the light, i pull away driving normal. the mustang thought it was ON and jumped in behind me... to "race" from the next light in 1/16 of a mile.

i laughed at him as i pull into the business on the left of the road, just before the next stop light.

True... I'm waiting for someone to post a youtube vid or a Civic beating a Viper or Lamborghini. Yes, it can be done... but if you lived in a place say like like Palm Beach I am pretty sure the Viper or Lambo would be the car of choice regardless if the hyper tuned Honda beat it in the strip or not. At the end of the day, no matter how much was spent it is still just a Civic. You can be a D-bag no matter whatever your car of choice is.

I beg to differ... I live in Palm Beach County and if you've got the money, then sure... but the tuning scene (domestic and import) is far bigger than dropping six figures on a car.

I think you misunderstood the point I was trying to make. A high end exotic will always be a panty dropper, while a Civic will always be associated with the fast and the furious stigma. For a single fella rolling the beach I doesnt matter if that exotic got beat by a 600hp unstreetable Honda, he wants to be seen and in the end most of the ladies are going to be attracted to the high end car and not a fast loud econo box.

haha... I'd take anything from Lambo over any Honda regardless of how much power it had...
