AG, why are 4" constant pressure FLAT pads not available?

I've noticed AG doesn't carry Red/Gold in the 5.5 size in flat at all. Either get the Hydro tech crimson or you're just SOL with AG. They carry the 6.5 versions and CCS 6.5 but no 5.5..

What gives?

Do the crimson pads have any cut? I'd almost want to go with an LC(5.5") blue or red pad for LSP application.

Zero cut and is absolutely fantastic. Very soft but a bit stiffer than say black/blue normal flats.

How well do the LC Flat 5.5 pads hold up to compounding and polishing? I think I'm going to order the 6 pack 2 Orange, 2 White, 2 Blue or Black, so cheap and so many pads. Can't resist.

I read a post from Corey saying that an Lake Country Rep told him that the Crimson pad does in fact have very little cut. I have witnessed this myself with the rotary. I used the Crimson pad with PO85RD to remove some marring i did with a towel and it removed it easily. I did a wipedown and they were gone and not filled. So i can say as well that it does have very little cut.

I used to think that the red hyrdo tech had no cut, but I recently saw a chart where they are just below that of a white CCS pad. So they have some cut. Ill see if I can find the chart, maybe on autopia.

They hold up fine to normal use. Work clean and remove 'em by separating the velcro by inserting a finger rather than grabbing the foam and yanking and they last longer.

IMO, orange and white get the most use, blue and black don't get the grunt work. I'd advise considering just one blue & black and an additional orange & white. YMMV.

Cool, I don't go through to many pads anyways, so thats good to know. I am very good about handling my pads carefully and cleaning thoroughly.
Thank You for the great info:xyxthumbs:

Don't you think a few black are needed for finishing on soft paint?

Absolutely. Just rarer for me than my useage of the workhorses. Frankly, everybody oughta to have at least a half dozen of everything available. Too late... you already bought 'em all.

Interesting! In the what size pad thread going right now there is one member making the case that white pads are ok for LSP application and now I learn that a pad that I thought had 0 cut (I have never seen and marring or issues using HTCrimson) and now find has a slight cut with less than white is not ok. I like the crimson pads but with the credible information here I'll follow Mark and choose another pas for LSP application. Now we need a thin 4" black flat pad .......

I don't think there is any harm in using the crimson pad for lsp application with some lsp's. It has some level of cut but what does that mean? It finishes better than most finishing pads on most paints when jeweling... So, if when using a finishing polish and receiving perfect results it would stand to reason that it would only enhance the finish on those same paints... That is IF it is lubricated. So my only concern with using it for LSP is that some parts of the pad may not have product on them during application. Having said all that I've never used it for lsp that I can recall. I always use a soft blue lc pad but planning to get a few gold and reds soon as well.

Thanks Corey.
I'm always careful To make sure the pad is completely primed, maybe that's why I have avoided any problems. perhaps you are right and it actually enhances the final finish? I'm eyeing the 4" constant pressure black pads, but after your view I'll be keeping the crimsons too. I really love the crimson ht pads for paste wax application, they are especially nice for that purpose.
