Hey guys I worked on 2 M3 today and working on an f250 and a 328xi tomorrow and need a good wheel cleaner I ran out of SONAX wheel cleaner. I need something I can get at auto zone or advance auto parts....

Mothers Foaming Wheel and Tire Cleaner is sold everywhere and does a good job.

Either product mentioned are good choices and safe for all wheels. If you have a store close by that sells Duragloss, sometimes you have to ask, pick up a bottle of #821 All Wheel Cleaner. It is a buffered acid based product so use caution as always, but this will cut through pretty much anything you will face. I only reach for this product when I'm in a pinch such as you and run out of pH balanced cleaners.

Ok sounds good thanks you so much...

Thank guys for your help now I know to order mor then one SONAX wheel cleaner

I know this is old, but I just did a Sonax Vs. BF wheel cleaner and the BF destroyed the Sonax.

Blackfire is $13.99 for 16oz and Sonax is $17.99 for 16.9oz (but it is on sale right now for $15.99)

NEVER for what i'm working with. And trust me I tried everything available online extensively as it kills me to pay as much as I do for the Sonax. And unlike other detailers, it takes me a full 16.9 oz bottle to fully clean all my 4 wheels.

I have both. I had to use blackfire wheel cleaner twice on my Audi ( with OEM audi designed BREMBO brakes and pads) front wheels, and then I ran out on the second application for the rear wheels. Its a decent wheel cleaner I guess for non german brakes, but is not even close to as effective as Sonax. and my wheels were still dirty in the front barrels where I could hardly reach for agitation (15" brakes and 19" wheels). (this doesnt happen with Sonax)

The only thing I have found to be even remotely as effective as Sonax is the Griots HD wheel cleaner. That stuff has 90 percent of the cleaning power of the Sonax, but is about half the price. So I have been buying that lately and only using the Sonax when I dont wash the car for about a month.

mg6045, Duragloss All Wheel Cleaner is cheap and very effective, but be cautious since its a buffered acid.
