PO85RD Question

Meg's Color X I havent used it but seen videos where some guy uses it after X brand polish to clarify the color and shine (jeweing).

It does have less cut than M205 - so I guess one could, conceivably, use Ultimate Polish for jeweling after M105/M205, at least on some paints.

From Michael Stoops on MOL:

So I'm assuming Ultimate Polish uses diminishing abrasives possibly putting in the same category as PO85RD?

Sorry I haven't used menz po85rd or any other fine finishing polish I use M205 and it always finished really good for me don't think it can get any better. But go to youtube and look up color x i'm not sure whats it called but guy goes to detail shop and has detailer compare x brand to megs color x and claimed it jeweled after correction or on fairly new paint.

I've been interested in the past few weeks to make an order for menz powergloss, sip, po85rd. May try 1 of them here and there slowly.

Don't get powergloss. It can't cut and finish like like M105. Color X is just an OTC product used to fill IMO

i love the stuff works wonders on soft paint..Sonax Paint cleaner is another GREAT final step process to bring out max gloss on softer paint as well. Both of them work fantastic on my jello soft mustang paint..I use a Crimson Hydrotech

Depending on the paint, and the person applying it, M205 can equal or better PO85RD IMO. With that said, I feel the PO85RD is the more consistent finishing polish that seems to always deliver great results. M205 often requires some adjustment of the technique to get it looking right on some paints, and most users will give up after the first test spot. However, M205 is faster and easier to use then the Menzerna, and it's typically what I reach for first.

Just my $02

Thanks I won't waste my time with Powergloss I like and have no problem with M105 just want to start trying other products since everybody raves about Mez. What Menz products are good for a 1 stepper? I still might try the po85rd when I run out of M205.

Get Power Finish for a one stepper.

power finish and Megs Finishing MF Pad are great for 1 stepper..and depending on how hard the paint is the Power finish and the MF cutting pad are a great combo.

Thanks Rsurfer and 05xrunner I was thinking about getting SIP but I will give the Power Finish and maybe Megs MF a try thanks for the recomendations. Also I want to try Super Finish and PO85RD.

This forum and members are great. :dblthumb2: I been detailing mine, girlfriends, family and helping a few friends for some time now with OTC products but since discovering AG and all the great knowledge everybody has to offer I have broadened my horizen on new techniques and new products only making me a better detailer will give doing a detailing buisness a try come spring already have alot of people that like my work and the info I give them on detailing there own vechicles.

As things stand there is no equal. If you want to spend $50 buying a bunch of other products to try, go for it. I find that most LSPs actually tone down the look PO85rd produces.

Try the newest formula optimum finish. It uses SMAT technology, so you don't have to break down the abrasives like 85rd. Dr G. told me the abrasives in finish are imported from Europe and are VERY refined!

I like the finish of Menzerna polishes(except power gloss), but I do not like having to break down the abrasives.

Nothing finishes better that a DAT polish IMO. I would rather spend the extra minute and use a polish that finishes the best. 85rd works on almost all paints, which 205 does not. You can't finish with 205 on a lot of soft japanese paints.

The new formula hyper polish finishes way better than M205 AND it has more cut. With that said, the new formula opt finish, finishes great on anything I've tried thus far.

:iagree:to jewel you will need a DAT polish. SMAT polishes are great to correct.

This is where it comes down to someones definition of finishing. I can finish great with optimum finish(SMAT). I really have no desire to "jewel" the paint. :)
