Life of Mixed batches of Rinseless Wash?

So I didn't empty my bucket of UWW+ used as a rinseless last time around. Came home mid week and wanted to give my tires a quick wipe down. The bucket was there, so I grabbed a rag, dipped it in the 3-4 day old solution and cleaned away. Noticed there was some dirt on the lower panels so I gave them a quick wipe as well. All went well.

So it made me think, how long can a bucket of mixed solution like this be useful? A week, maybe 2 - as long as you weren't using it on something that was dumping a half to of dirt? And what if you went as far as covering it up, or filtering it to extend the life? i know, I'm probably over thinking something that equates to $1-2 worth of product, but it was more the concept than the $$ that peaked my curiosity.

I'm not used to the shelf like of a rinseless wash but I've mixed up a sprayer of Ultima Waterless Wash Concentrate and have been using it all summer without any noticeable degradation in performance...

I think if you use distilled water and keep it in a closed bottle, it'll last a pretty long time - I pre-mix my UWW+ (with distilled water) in a 1.5 liter bottle and just transfer as needed to a sprayer, and I've never had any issues with it; same with ONR in QD dilution. I also typically save a liter or so of ONR or DP Rinseless (rinseless dilution mixed with tap water) in a bottle, just in case I don't need as much solution as I mixed - turns a little pink, but works just as well the following week.

Where do you go to get distilled water? I'm assuming thats what DI water is that i see talked about with the spotless car wash set ups?

Any grocery store sells it by the gallon. Normally about a buck a gallon.

I buy my distilled water at grocery stores. It's cheap to!!!

Lol!!! Someone beat me to it!!!

Same as the others, I get mine from the grocery in 4 to 6 liter bottles.

Pretty much indefinite in my experience; I've got a spray bottle in my truck for emergencies that was mixed up probably over a year ago and it's still working just fine.

Glad I read this! I almost started a new thread asking if diluting chemicals in distilled water is better than tap water.
Picking up a few gallons today for my ONR clay lube and QD Mix...

I mix all of mine with distilled water and never experience the discoloration that others talk about. Could be the chemicals in tap water reacting. My ONR and UWW are the same color as the day I mixed them and my bottle of ONR is maybe three months old. The ready mixed stuff is just that, premixed from concentrate, and who knows when it was really produced.

I've been thinking about this situation as well. You make a bucket of ONR rinseless wash (1 oz to 2 gal of distilled water) and use it to wash your car. Can you just put a lid on the bucket and reuse the solution until it gets too dirty to use? Any issues with this?

You can get free DI water if you collect the stuff from your dehumidifier and bottle it.

I save the portion of my rinseless than doesn't get used (usually the stuff below the grit guard) and pour it into a wheel bucket for use next time I wash my wheels.

I wouldn't use it to wash my paint with b/c I'm using regular tap water so I think the polymers will bind with the minerals over time, reducing the amount available to bind with dirt. That's just my thinking though...

Been doing it like I said. Going to take it a step further next time with some of the suggestions here (distilled water etc). It's been very effective so far, but again, I'm not washing muddin' trucks ;)

embolism you lost me. The stuff below the grit gaurd is the stuff that is the dirtiest.

courtdale you only need the distilled water for the premix spayable stuff. WW would be a waste of money on distilled water unless you thinking of using it over a few times. I would think if it's left to settle for a few days the dirt particals are going to sink to the bottom of the bucket. If there was a way to transfer the solution to a clean bucket without disturbing the dirt that has settled then you could probably use it a few times without worries.

You could use a cheese cloth.

Distilled water and DI (deionized) water are not actually the same. Distilled water is simply water that has been boiled, then the steam is condensed back into a liquid leaving pure water. However deionized water (like that produced by a CR Spotless) is produced by an ion exchange process using a mixed bed resin. A quality system (such as the CR Spotless) removes all of the mineral ions (both anions and cations) leaving extremely pure water. I use both distilled water (for mixing chemicals), and DI water for rinsing after washing. Distilled water can be purchased at the grocery store, not sure if you can purchase DI water. I've only ever generated my own.

I use 2 buckets so my wash water is exactly the same colour as when I started. My rinse water bucket on the other hand is a different story.

Plus, I only use an ONR wash when the car has a light film on it, otherwise I do a full wash. (I save my wash water for wheels when I do a full wash too though)

Where would you say RO water fits in this scenario?
