Not sure about Duragloss #501?

I used DG 531 on trim and Adams spray sealant on the flat black portions and wheels, Meg's ASD on wells and tires. Wasn't to happy with 531 on trim, was a bit of a PIA.

Try 253 on trim. Quick, easy, and pretty dang durable. Doesn't run either.

There was one question that was brought up here that went unanswered which I was also curious about.

How does the DG501 compare to Meguiar's D151 Paint Reconditioning Cream? The last review I saw of D151, I noticed that D151 has correction ability and took care of the client's swirls quite well.

Is DG501 the same? Will it correct minor swirls and imperfections?
Also, using a PC7424XP Speed 3-5 with an Orange B&S Pad is okay?
Or should I stick with the white B&S Pad?

D151 has more abrasives than DG 501 by a long shot. If you are getting correction from DG 501 then it's coming from your pad selection in my opinion.

I agree completely!

DG501 and D151 are my two go-to AIO's.
In the spirit of "use the least aggressive product", I'll start with 501for its phenomenal cleaning ability, then move up to D151 for spots or areas that need more correction. If you're not topping with a sealant or wax, pass over those areas again with 501 to take advantage of its durability.

Good to know. I think thats a pretty solid process
But wouldn't it be better for me to do the D151 then move over to the 501?

Would also give me a great opportunity to test the cleaning ability of both D151 and 501.
Maybe the 501 can get a lot more out than the D151?

There's a difference between correcting and cleaning. 501 is a very powerful cleaner, not so good at correcting. I always advocate to use the right tool for the job. If you need correcting, use a polish or compound that will do the job. (As mentioned, you always try the least aggressive approach first and increase the aggressiveness as needed). Follow that up with 501 and then seal it afterward. You will love the results.

Well said Richy, especially the last part, it really is that simple. Using DG #501/601 after the compounding/polishing annd finishing with any DG product (105/601, 101/601 or 111/601) will net great results but I always do the LSP twice, waiting 12 hrs ofcoarse.

This sounds like the WOWA product I've been wanting for some time now!

Any thoughts on using my Collinite 840 prior to the DG501? Will this be a little over kill on the cleaning part and simply wasting product (the Collinite 840) since I'll be using a cleaner/polisher anyway with my 501?

Thanks!!

If you're using Collinite 840, 501 is kinda redundant. In that case, I'd go right to a sealant or wax next, such as DG111 or Colli 845/476. The unique appealing quality of 501 is its excellent cleaning ability in addition to durable protection.

Skip the Collinite but be sure to use 601 with 501 as it definately increases durability. Did the Wifes van 8 months ago and the 601/501 is still going.

Duragloss 501/601 combo applied over 1 month ago and 1 car wash since and 2 snow storms.
